New in town

I've cut through that street and it looks like a run down area. People probably fear for their safety in areas that look like that. I was behind a resident on that street and as soon as he reached the stop sign he threw all his trash out his window. Do yourself a favor and paint your house, cut your grass, park your car in the driveway (Not on the street) and try to make you street more appealing. Most people would give you more respect if you looked respectable.

Hey "new in town" if you don't like the area move back to Jersey. If you don't live on the street don't use it as a cut through. The street is better kept then alot of places in Jersey ( I grew up in NJ have been here 25 years and never went back) But I suspect that if you do live here you do so in the CC area and feel you have to tell all us old timers how to live our lives. It was just like that in Jersey where the people on the hill with money would the people in town how to live then boost the taxes.

If you did drive down the street you idiot you would know that a petition has been set up to get stop signs because THERE AREN'T ANY! Stay in New Jersey where you belong! Small minded idiot! Our neighborhood is safe! That is why I moved here! It is full of wonderful, caring people. It is the speeders like that idiot ANGELA MCLEAN that make it UNSAFE! To prove a point she doesn't even live in the neighborhood and it certainly isn't a cut through to hers. She had no right to speed through here drunk and high on drugs and kill a beautiful young woman with her whole life ahead of her!

Just because of a mistake doesnt excuse the disgusting maintence of the area. Your calling someone an idiot while making rash, small minded comments. And a little FYI ... safe neighborhood? I have friends who buy their drugs there. It was a horrible accident that happened and could have been prevented but it doesnt give anyone the right to brutalize other people. When did this women die? From all I've heard she's alive and doing better.

Come on by and show your face........I'll knock your head off B*%^*! First of all, we are suppose to be adults here and all the name calling is childish and immature. Sadly, there are a lot of adults that have not grown up. Secondly, I have been praying for Halley and her family everyday since the accident happened. The prayers are being answered, thank the Lord! Regarding the cut-through traffic. Unfortunately there are many cut-through roads all over the county, the state, and the country for that matter. It doesn't matter if it is in a high-income neighborhood or a low-income neighborhood such as this one. I wish the residents in the area the best of luck in getting a remedy from the City of Debary. I have also been praying for the driver of the vehicle and her family. I am sure she is remorseful and feels horrible. It was an "accident". Which means, this was an unforeseen event and was not done with malice or intent. We are not ones to judge. Prayers need to continue for all involved.

So yes, anyone that drives drunk is an idiot.

Halley is a young and beautiful woman with a gorgeous, vivacious, playful three-year old angel, Ava. Ava's father, Chad, and Ava's grandmothers Leigh Ann Tepper and Vanessa Grady, are all trying to shelter Ava from this horrifying accident. Let's all continue to pray for Halley and the families. No more bickering. Just pray.

VCSO News Release: Woman Arrested in December DUI Crash
February 14, 2008 For immediate release Contact: Brandon Haught, Public Information Office
WOMAN ARRESTED IN DECEMBER DUI CRASH
A DeBary woman was arrested Thursday afternoon following a two-month investigation into a crash that left a pedestrian seriously debilitated. A warrant charging Angela Mclean with DUI with serious bodily injury to another stemmed from a December incident in DeBary when Mclean struck a woman who had been trying to get into her own vehicle. Mclean was transported to the Volusia County Correctional Facility in Daytona Beach without incident.
On Dec. 18, Mclean was driving her 2003 Mitsubishi Outback northbound on Columbine Terrance shortly before 8 p.m. Halley Miller, 21, of Altamonte Springs was trying to get into a parked car when Mclean suddenly struck her and also sideswiped two other cars. Miller was airlifted to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach. Responding deputies noticed that Mclean had a strong odor of alcohol and slurred speech. They took a blood sample and submitted it to a Florida Department of Law Enforcement lab. Results produced on Jan. 29 showed a blood alcohol level of .142. Based on this information, Deputy Joe Ramos obtained a warrant signed by Circuit Court Judge Frank Marriott on Thursday. Deputies found Mclean working out at a gym in Orange City and arrested her at 1:09 p.m. The 20-year-old will also face a charge of possession of alcohol by a person under 21. Mcleans bond is $2,500.
Miller is currently hospitalized at Orlando Regional Lucerne Hospital and undergoing therapy for her injuries.

I just wanted to respond to some comments made about this neighborhood. I wouldn't say it is a low income section, rather older homes that the majority of people take care of. Just because there are a few bad apples doesn't mean the whole bunch is rotten. My family and I are far from poor and take great pride in our neighborhood. We take care of our home/lawn and so does everyone around us, so let's get off the the stereo types and get to the real issue at hand. The stop signs have not made much of a difference. I think to change the speed limit and place some speed bumps would help people to keep in mind that children and adults alike are there on Columbine and to be more aware and careful. I have 3 children one with special needs and I don't feel safe letting them play in the front yard, not unless they can calm these people down from putting lives in danger just because the street saves some time. Is it really worth getting hurt or hurting another person. Think.
