Yet another mental health casualty -- are we ever going to stop the stupid, inhumane practice of putting people with mental health problems in prison? It's hard to believe we call ourselves civilized.

I agree. This is just another example of a death in the Denton County Jail. They just don't care.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? AND WHAT ARE WE TO DO WITH THEM JUST TURN THEM LOOSE ON SOCIETY? I FOR ONE AM SO SICK OF ALL THE BLEEDING HEARTS THAT STAND BACK AND CRY FOUL UNTIL ONE OF THESE NUT JOBS ASSAULTS THEM OR THIER CHILDREN. HOW ABOUT YOU TWO SEND YOUR ADDRESSES TO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND WHEN THEY PICK UP AN MENTAL CASE THEY CAN DROP THEM OFF AT YOUR PLACE AND YOU CAN CARE FOR THEM. GET INVOLVED OR SHUT UP.

Well, you first proved your intelligence by typing in all capitals, then really demonstrated it by your comment against "bleeding hearts". I guess the idea of rehabilitating someone, and giving them proper medication, at at cost equal or less than what it is to keep them in jail is too humane...oh excuse me...BLEEDING HEART for you. And do you understand the efficacy of the jailing system? It might as well be ZERO.

How about you imagine having a child that has had behavioral problems stemming from mental illness, then having that person packed in a jail with criminals for an offense they may or may not understand they committed, and letting them die alone. But I guess us bleeding hearts are the only ones that would be bothered by something such as the cruel and unusual punishment that is dealt to the mentally incapacitated on a daily basis by the penal system.
