I believe Brittany got 11 months and 29 days suspended to serve 2 weekends in jail with the remaining time on probation. Hardly more than a slap on the wrist when one considers the emtional and physical trauma she caused those dogs and the fact that she wrote 5 bad checks and basically stole a trailer to offer up as collateral for the bad checks. If someone did that in Chicago or New York they would be sent to the big house for a while. But not in Tennessee. It seems like everyone from the judges on down are exceptionally lenient when it comes to animal cruelty.

I heard a county law enforcement official express reluctance for taking away one's livelihood by busting suspsected puppy mills. I heard a county law official say "you know she has had cancer" as if we would should somehow exonerate Brittany of running a dog torture camp. I guess if you live in a small town in Tennessee and fall on hard times- the written law just does not apply.

It's Mayberry Justice- rather than arrest otis for drunk and disorderly, we will just give him they key to jail so he can sleep it off.

No wonder people up north think Tennessee is one big Hee-Haw episode.

Small town justice in Tennessee is an oxymoron.

I agree with you 100%. It's puppy mills and animal abuse in general that goes unpunished in TN. Memphis has had an explosion of mills, dog fighting rings and unGODly animal abuse this past year. At best, if anything, the slim get a slap on the wrist. Makes everyone wonder just how much money passes through how many hands!

You are right in saying those up North see us as ignorant southerners...but it's not the average person who gives cause for that perception, it's the powers that be!

I can't say on this forum what I would like to see done to millers and animal abusers but....I'll continue wishing it!
