I am profoundly ashamed of the Park City Police Department. If I saw someone speeding would I then be allowed to pull that speeder over and shoot pepper spray in his face? If I witness a bank robbery, would I be allowed to shoot the robber? No, of course not. Why is "Peppr Spray Bob" allowed to take the law in his own hands and harm a dog who was not threatening him?

I thank the Park City PD for upholding the leash law....we need more of it.
I certainly was not a witness, but at first blush it appears the dog may have been sprayed as an overreaction, but it does not absolve the dog owner. Animal Control should have been called as well. You show me a dog owner who claims to "pick up" after a dog who runs off leash... and, with a few exceptions, I 'll show you a liar.

It's nice to live in a community where animals roam free. But of all the animals, dogs are the only culprits that gratuitously poop in people's driveways and walkways. It is their master's responsibility, if they leave their dogs off-leash and wander onto other's propery, to remove it. We should have a curb law here. If your pet poops where someone might step in it, pick it up and dispose of it! Or leash your dog and don't let it trespass where it doesn't belong. This will make Park City and its residents more dog friendly.

The leash laws need to be better enforced. Too many people let their dogs run free. My small-mid sized dog was attacked by a very large dog whose owner said he has never done anything like that before. I'm sure that made our dog feel better knowning that - she had over 15 punctures in her skin. You just don't know if a dog is friendly or not and by the time you do figure it out, a whole lot of pain and damage could have occurred. I think that there was only one person at fault her and that was the lady who let her dogs off the leash.

OK, dog owners should be responsible for their dogs actions, but this guy has gone to far. We are talking about a yellow lab people, that was pepper sprayed for his curiosity. I have never seen a big dumb happy lab act aggressive to someone passing by on a trail- give me a break. Didn't the Utah Legislature just pass a law on animal cruelty?? I think this guy has over reacted and is now being rewarded for his coward ness of mans best friend. What about the dog who meant no malicious intent? Dogs have feelings too and are always going to be a part of our community, so please treat them well!

I leash my dog and pick up his poop. I do think he overreacted on this one. I carry pepper spray too, for bear, moose, aggressive dogs and now Bob Berube.

Watch out aggressive kids. Parents, I will pepper spray any child that I feel is a threat to my person, or my dog. What about kids that run up to my service dog in training (ON LEASH!), and grab him by the head? How is that ok? I think we should carry pepper spray in the stores up here so that more people can protect themselves from out of control kids, stalker men, bears, oh yeah, and those friendly, tail wagging labs. Grow up Park City.

These moronic and entitled PC women have absolutely nothing to do in their stupid boring lives than to harass men and yak on their goddam cell phones while driving around in their giant SUV's all goddamn day.

The guy should have done what I would have done, shoot the mutt and it would never bother anyone again!

If its not on a leash, don't bitch. BITCH!

I would not even think of taking my dog in a public area without a leash. It is so disrespectful. Not only towards other humans but towards other dogs as well. Stupid, just plain stupid to do so.

People. Have some respect for our dogs. They are part of our families and need exercise. They have been part of our community for years. Yes untrained, wild dogs should be on leashes. There is a difference between off leash dogs who roam away from their owners/homes and dogs who are off leash next to their owners like in this cases. Just because a few humans murder doesnt mean we are all locked up. Dogs are like people there are good ones and bad ones. How about a little love here. This is heaven not the city. Lets not turn it into hell.

I really question the success of any dog park in the Park City area. I want to hike, bike, ski, snowshoe, etc. on the local trails with my dogs, not stand in a dog park and watch them sniff butts.

Dog parks are great solutions for urban areas and are also prime locations for dog fights and the spread of disease.

I would be very much in support of having some of Park City and Summit County's trails open for off-leash dogs on even or odd days. Right now, there is not one place in Summit County where I can legally hike with my dogs off leash. This is absurd.

Let's pick five local trails and have three of them open to off-leash dogs on odd days and two of them open to off-leash dogs on even days. Dog owners will know where to go with their canine companions and non-dog trail users will know what trails to avoid on those days, or will access those trails anticipating canine encounters. Having legal off-leash trails has a much better chance of being successful than a dog park.

Let's not waste money on a park that won't be used. Local residents are not really known for standing around. Let's give the locals an outlet that will be used - access to off-leash trails.

What happened to Bark City? Let's not lose all of our local charm.

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Virgo

This is not a day for sitting still if you can possibly avoid it because it will be a fast track to bad temper and sharp-tongued outbursts. Have plenty of short breaks, go for lots of walks or work up a sweat in the gym in your lunch-hour. If you're driving, keep an eye on the speedometer because it will be very tempting to go too fast and you'll be furious if you're caught.
