Fire Destroys Building in Downtown Hinton

I hope folks will not point fingers until the full investigation is out.

The main thing at this time is to give help to the people who lost so much.The apartment renters are left with nothing.Hopefully they will be helped by not only loaves and Fishes, but the public in general. The family on Summers street needs to be remembered too. Hinton folks have a way of helping their own and will no doubt come through again.

Mrs. Pivont is a dear lady and must be suffering from all this as is the doctor and I am sure Donna Pivont also.

The town and people are in my prayers.

I agree with your comments. Unfortunately many in Hinton are already pointing fingers but maybe not where you would think. From First Responders to "Men of God" the community is laying blame at a man's door who was an arsonist in his youth. Since this man has returned to Hinton, his name is mentioned any time a fire occurs. If you have ever lived in Hinton then maybe you understand what I mean by you can never overcome your past in this town. The man is working, has a stable relationship, & a new baby. Others might call me a fool but I would like to see some evidence before the town tries & convicts this man in the court of public opiion. Let me add that I have no sympathy for true arson & believe it should be prosecuted to the fullest extent.

I know the people that lived in those apartments and not everyone can get new stuff. Steve Cales just lost his brother and now he and his family have nothing. They lost all the pictures they had of Billy Jack, all their clothes, and everything else that can either never be replaced or will take a long time to get back. Most people dont realize that while some people have money and can get new stuff others like them cant. They are a good family that would do anything they can for other people. So anybody that can should help them out in their time of need whether you know them or not.

How come every time a house burns down or a campfire is lit or a piece of toast gets a little too black it is automatically Joey's fault? Don't you think that there are other people capable of lighting a match.
Also Joey looks like a solid citizen these days, a job, a new kid; it's crazy but he's a regular man. A nice guy, even if he set a fire I don't think he'd ever set a fire where there were innocent people inside.

Most fires occur in the winter when people are using heaters, more electricity....

wasnt there a fire around that vicinity like 20 + years ago?

Tobacco leaf burned down on the other corner about 16 or 17 years ago and Family Dollar burned down on a corner near there probably around 22 or 23 years ago
