Don't get me wrong, I'm a strong believer in gun rights, but the range should have a responsibility to keep the bullets/pellets from landing on other people's property. Regardless of who was there first.

Even for Wisconsin, it's hard to believe an organization this blatantly redneck and ignoble existed in today's world. Typical, expected answer from the world's foremost leftist! This drivel is not the whole story, I guarantee that! Until I learn more facts about the real nature of this story, I will reserve judgement, something that most sane, rational people would do. Mrs R, I hope there comes a time in your life when someone saves your hide by using a firearm, then maybe you'll realize that there's a purpose for them and they are NOT evil incarnate.

Typical elitist of the left: insult an entire state, treat absurd statements as fact, then act like it is "common knowledge." YOU, Mrs. R, are the uneducated one here.

Regardless of who was there first. I'm not a gun person, but I agree with you completely. I see this as very different from the long-time gun club or shooting range that suddenly finds itself surrounded by McMansions, full of country-squire wannabes complaining about the noise. Noise is one thing, stray bullets/pellets are another.

Safety Group = Violence Policy Center or some other like minded, anti gun, group with cash for lawyers and to keep the lawsuit alive until the gun club runs out of money. I would like to see some proof from the property owners who claim "bullets were flying onto their property" that this really occured. Now that this has succeded, you will probably see more suits filed agains gun clubs throughtout the area.

If the gun range was there first, then the people complaining should shut the hell up because THEY CHOSE TO MOVE THERE. Just like the idiots that move by the airport and then complain about the noise....just plain idiots that I have no sympathy for whatsoever.

A pre-existing gun club shouldn't have to close down because new people move into the neighborhood and don't like the noise, or guns in general. But everybody who shoots a gun is responsible for where the bullets go, and if they go onto a neighbor's property in an unsafe manner, the shooter should know there will be ramifications. The ramification in this case being the closing of the range, which according to the news article, appears to have been used in an unsafe manner. That said, this country needs more gun ranges, not less. Safe gun handling should be part of any competent adult's education. Hunter's, gun permit holders, police, olympic competition shooters, other participants in shooting sports, and casual plinkers should have a safe place to shoot within a reasonable driving distance and at a reasonable price.

First of all if they don't like the noise they shouldn't live next to a gun club. As for stray bullets that is a problem, do they have proof of the bullets tho. Or is this something that has been fabricated in order to get rid of guns. As many of you who so want to get rid of the very tools that not only keep people safe, but put food on the table. Banning guns only takes them from the people who use them lawfully.

Well Said Mrs. R. Obviously you are an erudite person of a liberal persuasion. A member of the party of tolerance and acceptance I might add. Your eloquence is suprassed only by your ignorance. I would like to say that I grew up not far from this gun range. It is mostly farmland with only a couple of newer houses built on large lots in the immeadiate area (Not McMansions). No one was against the gun range existing, but the problem was the management (or lack thereof). YES, bullets were found on other people's property (they didn't just "make it up." Many families live in the area and there were safety concerns for children and pets. Also, there didn't seem to be any regulated hours for people to use the range. Sometimes, someone would be out there shooting at 11pm or midnight in the middle of the week. Again, I would like to point out - it wasn't the gun range itself, it was the people who ran it. Many of the neighbors who complained have guns of their own for hunting or pleasure shooting. It was just an unsafe facility and a "bad" neighbor.

After doing some searching it sounds like Angela is right on the money. There were complaints about drinking at the range and other unsafe practices. It sounds like there was a minimal amount of management going on that people took advantage of. Also from what I could tell an annual memebership cost $20. You aren't going to be able to run much of a facility charging dues like that.

Senator angry clown is not a satirist, he is a polemicist, but any purported liberal using the word ignoble and redneck in the same post is tipping their hand a bit... Being a gun owner, I take no pleasure in admitting that the neighbors do seem to have a legitimate beef...
