Bouvry Exports of Canada has applied for a
Food Safety Inspection permit for the old
Florence meat packing plant near Stanwood.
This means they must be planning to resume
horse slaughter. Please do not let them
blindside you with this proposal as they did
twice to us in Missouri, unsuccessfully, at
Mountain Grove and Rockville. Please speak
out against this cruel and inhumane treatment
of horses !

I still can't understand how people can kill horses-- who has the heart? I know they do it for money, but still. It's a cruel, cruel, horrible career. I have been around horses my whole life, and not once have I ever hurt one. They're wonderful majestic creatures and should be treated as such. Just because they're old or you can't afford a medical bill, DOES NOT mean they have to be sent to slaughter. That's what rescues are for. People are just greedy and lazy nowadays and don't want to take the time to either sell or admit horses to a rescue.
