What in the world is becoming of our moral conscience when we condone a 12 year old girl having sex by her mother putting her on birth control and allowing her to date a 16 year old boy unsupervised? I was appalled when my own child custody lawyer (Melissa Carrico of Marion, Virginia) told me I needed to "just get over it". I paid her $1,000 to represent me and this is her response/stance? I can not believe the attitude here especially since I decided to move to the mountains to get away from that line of thinking. I thought that the people of the Appalachian region would be the last remnant and not be accepting of this type of behavior in the least. My daughter's sexual activity overshadows the fact that her mother has admitted to: being in possession of paraphanallia (a pipe) used for smoking crystal meth, hospital grade syringes and a vial of liquid morphine, has been seeing a pschiatrist for over ten years for bi-polar and manic depression, abusing prescription medications, providing false information to obtain medicaid, welfare, has insuated possibly prostituting herself with her brother in law, leaving pornographic material openly on the family PC for the children to happen across, has four child neglect reports to the Washington county Virginia Dept. of Social Services, every year the children receive detention at school for unexcused absenses, has over $1,000 in bad checks outstanding, the children having lice for over three years, making the children memorize what to say to the DSS if questioned about neglect, has had seven auto accidents in the past 4 years (three with the children present in the vehicle), worked at 5 places of employment in the past 4 years. Yet my attorney says I need to "just get over it". In the words of Natalie Merchant-What's the matter here?
