Today, an elderly woman was supposed to be transported by the Schuyler County ARC bus. For an unknown reason, she did not arrive at home at her normal time. The health aid became concerned and began making calls, with no evail. She then decided to go look for her. The aid found this woman --- locked on the bus, parked in the ARC parking lot, with no way to get her out. This woman had been on this bus for 3+ hours in the 90+ degree weather, no windows open and totally confused.
The aid phoned 911 and she was then taken to Schuyler Hospital for treatment - to re-hydrate, regulate her sugar level and to stabilize her.
Her clothing were totally wet from being so very hot and she was confused to "why".
Thankfully, she returned to her home.
Hopefully, this organization is investigated and not allowed to transport our loved ones until we can be sure that there are qualified employees to provide the services that we desperately need.
Who is in charge of hiring, training, testing, etc. these employees to drive these vehicles??
Is there a rated qualification that one has to be required to have??? If not, WHY??
Who is really responsible for the actions that occured today??? Is it the driver or the one that hired him/her????
This type of action is totally unacceptable and hopefully someone takes notice.
Just think,,,,,, it could be your parent, child, friend, etc...
There has to be a fix.
