Let the layoffs commence.
The Judge saved a few but screwed the many.
If the State has no money to pay; it can only fire employees until they can afford the payroll!

So, you State Employees, look to your left then look to your right.
Those people will not be there in a week.

Why does not Schwarzenegger lower the price of gasoline along with wages and pensions? Lowering the price of gasoline and oil will Californians more money to pump into the economy and pull the economy out of the recession. It is the high price of oil that is prolonging the recession, increasing inflation and it is driving businesses away from California, not taxes. For California to remain competitive, Schwarzenegger must lower the cost of energy.

This was just an empty gesture by Arnold, he knew it would not stand up in court. Such a request violates so many existing contracts, Arnold's great grand kids would be handling cases in civil courts defending themselves from contract violations.

GOOD! They'll make more money from unemployment than they would with minimum wage! And in the mean time they can find themselves a better job. Who, other than teenagers living at home still, can afford to live off of minimum wage?? Sounds like the right choice was made.

I'm a state worker, and this just saved my house! Who could live off of $7.75 per hour, for the next 6 months?

They would get the missed wages back later anyways,... Most state workers i have encountered are completely worthless.. every obese cow that works at the DMV deserves minimum wage.

Feel free to pay your mortgage and live on unemployment, then. I'm sorry but this b.s. is stupid. You were going to get the rest of the money as soon as a budget passed. You'd rather lose your job than take temporary furlough days or a temporary cut in pay, fine. I truly don't give a dang anymore about state employees. Most of you don't do your jobs worth a darn anyways.

Hey, let's hope you lose your job and there's no unemployment for you. Boy, wouldn't that be fair recourse for you and your family!

Are you an idiot? Lets find other ways to balance a budget. All the social programs can take a hit. Why should state workers take a hit when they aren't doing anything to provoke it... Let's see you take this kind of hit. People have bills to pay. I', guessing when you get behind with a mortgage it's tough to catch up..$7.75 an hr is $14,880.00 a year(less when you take out taxes and all your other deductions). A one bedroom apt cost about $700.00 a month. That's $8,400.00 a year. Add in utilities, gas to get to work, food, car repair if needed and other unforseen problems and you're in the red....God I'm glad Obama is changing everything..Don't you feel soooo much better?

Instead of pay decreases, let's go after the real problems...How about the heads of all non emergency agencies stop taking cars home..Take for example, the woman in charge of disibility insurance who works out of Chino Hills and lives in Los Angeles. She takes her car home every day. Do you think there's gonna be an issue in the middle of the night about disibility insurance? And the list of waste goes on and on. This is just one example.

For the worker bees to take a hit is rediculous at best..Leave them alone and go after the waste at the top....

and by the way...I don't work for the state and never have..I'm a good listener at parties and other events where workers tend to let off steam..

Maybe so, but how do you feel about public safety? Obese cows? Hardly. I could guess what you do for a living and what you look like!

Hardly, moron. State employee payroll accounts for a whopping 1% of the budget. Maybe people like you on welfare better start looking to your left and right. Your welfare handouts may be going bye-bye!

I work on a payroll system, we were talking about how this could be carried out. Most payroll systems, the payrate is based on an annual amount divided by 2080. This annual amount is also used in figuring some benefits like life insurance. You change the annual amount to $15,080 and you also change the life insurance coverage amount. Then there is the issue of payroll deductions. Many of these deductions are fixed, a flat rate. So you reduce the paycheck’s gross amount, but what do you do if there isn’t enough net to cover the deductions? Do you have the state pay through a special earnings? Or do you cancel the benefit? Drop their health, dental, HSA, deferred savings? And how do you restore their pay once the budget is passed? A lot of systems have a limit on how many hours you can put on a single check. Do you make a special one-time payment, like a bonus? Do you tax this payment at the annual rate or supplemental rate?
I tell you one thing, the who work on the state’s payroll systems would have come out like king’s with all the extra hours they would’ve put in.

Papa, more daily gains have come from the space program than anything else science has done. From microwave ovens to GPS systems, the list is huge

And how, exactly, have we "screwed up" the Earth? It's still here, still green, and still home to all of us. Except possibly Obama. He might have been born on Mars ;)

Maybe if all the state legislators were making minimum wages, and that ONLY for the hours they're actually at work, then we'd see some more action.

I'm employed in the private sector in a job that will never be removed or eliminated.
And I perform at a level that my employer would remove those aroundme, before me.
I could make more, but have adjusted my lifestyle to what I make not what the next contract might give me and when those around me scream for more yet produce less they only make me all the more valuable.

I have also set aside my own earnings to provide should any such disaster occur.
I do not rely on the taxpayer to provide for me.
I take personal responsibility for my self and family.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Pisces

Having to bow down to convention or limitations is enough to make you want to scream right now, and you'll do your utmost to rebel in any way you can. Be careful about this because you could easily get on the wrong side of someone who has power or authority over you. It feels as though you're battling with forces that want to keep you under control, and you don't like it one bit.
