And the parents will spend the money and the state (taxpayers) will pay for all of the child's medical bills!

AAAnd, you know this for a fact and how do you know this? Do you realize how expensive it will be to take car of this child for hte rest of his life? And, yes, it will also include respite care so the parents cn get way for some much needed break time.

If the parents have this money the state won't pick up the bill I don't think but they should be able to afford it with this money. God bless them all.

I wonder why healthcare is so expensive...oh yeah,HUGE settlements! I won't make that kind of money in my lifetime working full time,it's not realistic to think it will cost that much to adequately look after this kid for his whole life.

Aand has it correct. The parents can and likely already are accepting medical benefits for nursing, medical, respite, DME and many more benefits. Additionally, they will likely also demand that the state provide in class assistance at the state's cost. Should they be forced to pay these fees out of their settlement? ABSOLUTELY! Will they? NO! These ridiculously huge settlements are why fewer and fewer Doctors choose to go into the field of Obstetrics, the malpractice insurance is prohibitive. What will people do when the OBs become extinct? Who will they sue then? Think about it.

the money is most likely put into trust for the child until he reaches the age of consent, that way the state cant collect the money from him,and his parents most likely cant afford it and therefore qualify for medi-cal.so until he reaches 18,california will foot the bill for medical costs in all forms.then he will probably be appointed a legal represenative to disburse the lawsuit funds for his daily care until the money runs out.then onto disability payments only and ssi,and medical again.

Unfortunately you're right. America is turning itself into a lottery oriented society, with many figuring that the only way forward is through litigation.

Daily Horoscope for December 17

Aquarius

Yesterday you had a good control over the workings of your mind, but sadly that isn't the case today. Instead, your thoughts are wandering in every direction except the one you need to concentrate on. The result will be a sense of being disconnected from what's going on around you and possibly even a dreamlike quality to the day. Don't make any decisions while you're like this.
