I feel this story is very one sided & singles out 1 person & that the people who read this story are going to get the wrong idea about how that the VOLUNTEER service has SERVED it's Community. The statement that the Milroy VOL. EMS did NOT respond is a flat out LIE!! I was listening to the police scanner that day and they did respond and had personnel on the scene. The ambulance was 1/2 mile away when the Rush Co. sheriff’s Dept. made the call to transport the (Amish) child to an Decatur co. EMS unit! Also the statement that Darcy Conley did not attend the meeting mon. is true BUT, I also feel that the reason she did not attend is VERY important to the story!! SHE is off on medical leave due to a VERY serious medical condition and is taking treatment daily & is not to drive @ this time & is focusing on trying to over come this health problem! Although it does not interfere with her duty as Pres. I also feel that people should know that Darcy is a Paramedic with Rush Mem. Ambulance Service ( On medical Leave) and a part time Medic with Fayette Mem. Ambulance.(on med. leave) as well. Some people don't realize how long it takes to become an EMT basic let along an Advanced EMT & yet how much more to become a Paramedic. And let's NOT forget that this is all out of pocket time, energy, blood, sweat & tears to take on such a huge task. Plus the ON GOING training that these special people have to keep up with each year! Darcy is one of these people that has put her life on the line countless times & put her social & family life on hold to respond to a 911 call. She has left Church, Weddings, Christmas morning, Thanksgiving dinner with her family & friends to help the people of Rush Co... Every EMS service in Rush Co. has had problems. These Vol. EMT's give what that can & try to do what they can for their community without asking for anything in return!! They don't even get a THANK YOU most of the time! Firefighters’ too!! If you really want to help & give back to your community shouldn't we all try to give some time & Volunteer!! in all our small communities!! Times are tough & things are harder & not going to get any easier soon. That's when it's MOST important to give & stand up be counted as a person who really cares. All our Volunteer EMS & Fire Dept.'s need Volunteers. And did you know that usally the Co. will pay for this training, if you will agree to Vol. for a small length of time! What better why to show your support then to do this? I love Rush Co. & the people in it & would hate the think that only one side & that people pointing fingers is how this will end. I pray that God will be with Darcy & her family as they battle her health problems & that some people (you know who you are) really stand back & look at how they have turned a issue into a huge scandel & are dragging innocents peoples names through the mud for all the world to see. This should not have been a internal matter! These issues come up in all Vol. Dept. all over in every state. The headline for this story should have been " Kick Em' While Their Down"

I agree that Darcy is a very good emt/Advanced responder. The problem with Milroy EMS is they do not have a good relationship with their own fire department. When a call goes out, if a firefighter can get to the scene first and assess the patient for the EMS team that is how it should be. The fire personnel should not have to ask the EMS personnel for permission. You are right alot of people don't realize when the call goes out these volunteers stop what they are doing to help. We as a community need to support them instead of put them down. They do a good job and work well with what they have. Rush County is lucky to have the number of Volunteers that we have. As for Darcy's illness, I pray for her family and that she her health. Anyone who has not walked in a volunteers shoes....get over it...they may save your life one of these days.

Daily Horoscope for January 4

Aquarius

You will not be satisfied in your work place, but give it some time and things will fall into place. Those in the construction business should get some good news. Aquarian homebodies will find things rather hectic and may develop a headache by the end of the day, so you should avoid negative thinking as much as possible.
