For the CANCER patients that i have seen die,YES! for them! Marinol a derivative of Pot DOES NOT WORK EFFICIENTLY as does the real thing! I do not use it,but i do think it brings a stability to Cancer patients that have to already endure Treatments that rendure them useless and with no Appetite! I have held many a hand till the end and Pot(term)works!

Yes. It's your choice what to put in your body and nobody has a right to violence against you based on that choice, not even the state. Especially not the state.

Besides that it's relatively safe compared to most drugs. Most things said about it are lies or misrepresentations. The study linking it to schizohphrenia, that only linked THC to stimulation in the part of the brain controlling paranoia. There's more to schizophrenia than paranoia and CBD is also in marijuana. I have a friend who has schizophrenia that treats it with marijuana, and it works.

And then there's the 5 cigarettes equals 1 joint myth. This is only true as far as airflow restriction goes. As far as the other harmful effects of cigarettes marijuana has never been linked to lung cancer, and because it is absorbed mostly in the large bronchials instead of the small ones emphysema is nearly impossible. Also, THC has anticarcinogenic properties which would compete with the properties of any inhaled carcinogens, either reducing their effect, cancelling them out, or outweighing them and producing a decreased anticarcinogenic effect.

Marijuana has many medical applications. In fact I used to have Tourettes. I smoked marijuana twice and it was gone. Only about 2% of people with Tourettes experience complete remission. They should do a study to see how many of these people have smoked weed.

I'm all for being free as a bird - whee! But, I sure as hell do not want to pay higher health insurance premiums because a new breed of "legal" marijuana smokers have inundated the health care system with smoking related illnesses. Nor do I want to pay higher auto insurance premiums because pot became legal, more readily available, and a bunch of high, happy idiots crashed their cars. Sorry, don't mean to rain on everyone's parade of zig zags - but every long time pot smoker that I have ever met has had some startling similarities to every other chronic I've known. They are forgetful as hell. They are flaky (goes back to the forgetfulness). They typically are not very successful in education or career. I know this might sound harsh...but it's true. Pot makes you stupid and forgetful.

Why not? Legalize it, tax it, then tell them where they can smoke it. Works with tobacco and alcohol.

Those pot smokers are the ones who are open about it because they have nothing to lose. Most pot smokers do well, but keep their mouths shut because if they told the wrong person they could lose their job or get arrested.

What would the criminal gangs do if they couldn't fund their operatiosn by selling marijuana? They would go broke and have to get real jobs! Oh no!

Drug dealers don't want marijuana to be legalized because that would be a big chunk of cash out of their pocket and into our pockets. Marijuana is easier for children to get in the schools than alcohol is. If we legalized marijuana and regulated it the same way I believe it would make it much more difficult for children to obtain it. Imagine how much less money would be spent jailing these people who are obviously no threat to society. Drunks are a bigger threat to society than stoners. Lets just use some common sense here.

No Its just another reason for the gov to get more of our money, they get enough!!!!!!!!!!

It is unrealistic to compare crack and heroin to marijuana, however,to answer the hypothetical comment above, their life expectancy would be much shorter with crack and heroine.

Tamara you need to read the comment I was responding to. Im not comparing any of the drugs. Im saying if drug dealers cant sell weed they'll sell something else..(i.e. crack,heroin) Is that a hard concept to grasp?

Crack and heroin aren't in as high a demand, because people know they are dangerous. Marijuana makes up the bulk of the drug market and legalizing it would immediately drain the majority of drug dealers' profits.

Furthermore, yes we should legalize crack and heroin. Are they healthy? No. Would I use them? No. But it's not my place or anybody's place to tell people what to put in their bodies. People who take these don't care that they're illegal anyways. Most people won't take these if they were legal because of common sense. For those that do think of it as natural selection. That's why even though they're just as illegal as marijuana people overwhelmingly choose marijuana over them.

Well I cant tell you which drug is more in demand , but apparently you have first hand knowledge. Legalizing marijuana is one thing but the idea of legalizing crack and heroin is insane. I would think that a person with half a brain recognizes this.

Whats next are we going to legalize homicide because its not anybody's place to tell someone who they can and can't kill? See how stupid that is TheTimeIsNow?

They already do sell crack and herion in schools, but it isn't as common. Marijuana is the most common drug. Over 83 million Americans over the age of 12 have tried marijuana at least once. It is the gateway drug that leads to the use of harder drugs like crack and heroin.

I used to smoke, but i have learned that in the gob that I am in, people used to smoke on the norm. That is the time we lose more planes and helo's then ever before. Pilets would really not know if the person that worked on the aircraft was stoned or not. And planes fell out of the sky. If there was a way to test if the person was high at the time I would say yes legalize it but unil then I will stay sober. And I hope the person fixing my plane is to.

I can't see any big revenue windfall for the feds from legal pot. The beaurocracy that would have to be established to "run" such an operation would more than use up any monies recieved. my worry would be the car full of pot smokers on the freeway with the windows rolled up and the car so full of smoke they can't see out and so happy they don't care!! Kind of like the many cars full of drunks that kill people on the road everyday today---
