My heart goes out to these people that were in this horrific accident. I came up on this accident and tried to help but there wasn't much we could do to help.

I knew Adrienne Clardy and her children when they lived in Copperas Cove, TX. I believe she was originally from Florida, but I'm not exactly sure where. Her son, Chris, was a good kid. He was very polite and worked hard. He enjoyed taking care of his younger brothers. He's going to be missed a lot.

Brenda, I'm just a little confused . If Adrienne was 19 and Chris, her son, was 10 ( like the article reports) then that would've made her a very very young mother at 9. I was at the scene with a young boy and he kept drifting in and out of consciousness. Do you know how many people and their ages were in the accident?

There was a typo in the paper. Adrienne was actually 29, not 19. Adrienne had 5 kids. The baby was 1 year old. She had another child around Chris's age and then there were two other boys that were probably about 7 and 8. Which one kept drifting in and out of conciousness?

I had her son Logan in my 1st grade classroom last year. One of her other sons (Gage) was also in 1st grade last year. Logan had a very special place in my heart and I am so sad and sick about this news. They are now in Florida as far as I know. I wish I knew how to contact the family now.

Adrienne's sister, Donna has talked about having a memorial for Chris in Copperas Cove or Killeen. My friend, Joedi watched the kids for Adrienne and Chuck. Joedi is how I'm getting most of my info. She's been in contact with Donna. My understanding is that Gage and Logan were in Florida with Chuck. Brandon, was also not in the vehicle. Ethan the baby is still in critical condition. I believe he has a body cast. I've called Joedi and I'll try and find out more information about how to get a hold of the family.

I have a phone # for Mr. Clardy. I called earlier but he was at the Ronald McDonald house. I will be calling later tonight. I'll let you know what I find out. Mr. Clardy called our school earlier today and spoke with either the principal or the counselor but I didn't get a chance to talk to either of them to find out anything. But he did let us know that Logan and Gage are fine.

Brenda, in reference to your question. My family and I drove upon on the scene just minutes after it happened. I was told there was a baby in the accident which I never got to see( the baby was being tended to by some other helpers). I was able to comfort one of the boys and I do believe this was Chris. He was about 10 years old. It seemed to me like he had some internal injuries and kept drifting in and out of conciousness. There was nothing we could do besides keep him covered and keep him calm. I was able to comfort another gentleman who was holding a young boy in his arms. The boy seemed to be about 4 or 5 years old. They were both alert and oriented but in obvious shock. I was able to keep him calm.
Please keep me updated on any news, obituaries or services. I feel so bad that we were not able to do much besides provide the comfort.

I talked to Mr. Clardy earlier tonight. The baby(Ethan) is in ICU in stable condition. They had him on a feeding tube and was able to remove it today. He has a half body cast and is on a ventilator but will probably be taken off of it Friday. He will be in the hospital 7 - 10 days unless nuerological tests show that he has brain injuries(I don't think they are suspecting it). This is really good news because they really didn't expect him to pull through. He didn't have any information on the other boys(they were the boyfriend's children) and all he told me was they survived and that's all he knew. They had Christopher & Adrienne's memorial services Sunday(I think), but he said he thought Adrienne's sister was trying to put something together in Copperas Cove for Christopher because he had several friends here. I'm going to call her tomorrow to find out the information on that. I also got Logan's phone # and called him tonight but he had gone to get something to eat. I talked to his uncle and he said they were all doing ok but I am going to try calling him again tomorrow. Mr. Clardy said they are coming back to Copperas Cove after Ethan gets out of the hospital because he wants the boys to have something familiar. All I know is I can't wait to give Logan a big hug. I know he and Gage are having a tough time for sure.

Gerald, if you want to email me, I can send you Mr. Clardy's #(after I ask him if it's ok) if you would like to talk with him. I'm sure he would like to hear from you. My email is loras@ccisd.com.

Gerald, thanks for replying to my e-mail. I didn't mean to pry. But, at the time I had posted the e-mail, I thought Adrienne's other kids were in the vehicle. So, I was concerned that another one was more seriously injured than I knew. I'm so glad you were there to help.
Lora, I appreciate all the info. Which school do you teach at? I knew the kids when they were at Miss Jewell.

Thanks Lora. I'll try to e-mail you later when I get home. So does anybody know exactly how many people were in the vehicle. As we left the scene I saw to good samaritans doing CPR on a person. I'm not sure who the person was though.

There were 6 in the vehicle and all of them were thrown from the car because they were not wearing their seat belts. According to what the police told Mr. Clardy it's probably what saved the baby's life since the car caught on fire. They would not have been able to get him out of his car seat if he had been properly restrained.

Lora, when I came up on the accidents just minutes after it happened, I talked to another person there who was helping. She did tell me that the boyfriend had carried his son to the median after escaping from the vehicle. The lady also told me that she had carried Cristopher across the road and onto the median. I do know that Adrienne was ejected from the vehicle. The only info I heard about Ethan was that it didn't look good for him. I'm not sure if he was ejected or not. So who was the 6th person? Was it an adult or was it a child?

Hello

My name is Donna Howard and I am Adrienne's sister. I have scanned the comments posted and will try to clear up different information.

Adrienned did turn 29 this year.....and Christopher was 13. There were 6 people in the car 2 adults and 4 childern. My understanding from the police officer I talked with, was Adrienne, Chris and Ethan were thrown from the car. Her boyfriend was knocked out and came to still being trapped in the car. He was able to get free and was told someone stopped to help him free the other two kids. He went to check on Adrienne and Chris and they were gone. He never did see Ethan before he was taken away.

I arrived in Lubbock at the University Medical Center around midnight. There was a delay in tracking me down. In fact my nephew that was here in Killeen called me about 10:30 Sunday morning and said an Army man was trying to contact me and he was scared because his Mom (Adrienne) wasn't answering her cell phone. The info I did get from the Army was that they knew she and her boyfriend were in an accident and it was mile marker 221. I stayed on the phone until about 1:30 when I got the officer that actually was on the scene and he broke the terrible news to me.

Ethan was in terrible condition........I was very scared when I did see him and we had a couple of scary days last week. But I strongly believe with all the prayers for Ethan that's what helped him get through. And know in my heart he will heal. It's hard enough to bury one person but two it's..........well there are no words.

Chuck (Ethan's Dad) has excepted my offer of help him with his boys and will be moving back to Copperas Cove as soon as Ethan get's out of the hospital. I am going back to Lubbock tomorrow morning to help give Chuck a break -- OK really I can't wait to see Ethan.

Gerald.......If I have followed the postings right I want to extend my thanks to you - first for stopping but secondly for being there for my family.

Donna I tried to call you earlier today. I guess that's why I couldn't get in touch with you. If I remember right, I met you last year when you came to eat lunch with Logan. I just wanted to tell you how very sorry I am. I'm sure you are dealing with a lot but just know that there are a lot of people at Halstead praying for your family.

I'm not sure if anyone is still following this board, but if you are, Ethan will be leaving Lubbock hospital on Wednesday. I have been in contact with both Mr. Clardy and Logan a couple of times and everyone seems to be holding it together pretty well. Please keep this family in your prayers. They have been through a lot this past year...more than you can even begin to imagine.
