Why is PG County in the news every day?

Crime is higher - that's a fact. Car insurance is higher - that's a fact. The school systems are weaker - that's a fact. I have never seen more people openly litter in my life than the 2 years I have lived in PG County. There is an ignorance and lack of respect that drive this "community" into the gutter, a lack of respect in others and a lack of respect in ones self. The largest investment a person can make - a home - is often neglected here. If they can't take care of their homes, what makes you think they will take care of their neighbors? Acceptance is a common fault in this county.

Take note of Virginia. It's denser, yet has less crime. The schools have better teachers because more people want to live there. Homes are worth three to five times more because communities are more desirable and developed. I'm tired of PG's ignorance depreciating my home. Stand up, recognize we have a problem and demand a change.

These are my suggestions. What are yours?

- encourage diversity
- speed cameras in more places
- security cameras in more places
- a ban on tinted windows (criminals are on the road too - why are they hiding?)
- enforcing a curfew
- fines for home neglect - depreciates the value of our investments
- need more police on the street
- new government who will do something about changing the stigma of PG, not just talk

National Harbor is the gem of PG and the developer spent a fortune building gates and fencing to separate it from the volatility of this county. Let the beauty and safety of the Harbor be your inspiration to improve our communities. Let Bethesda and Northern Virginia be the bar we set for ourselves. PG County will continue to show up in the news unless each of you does something about it. That's a fact.

PG County is the armpit of the DC area! The trash of DC moved out ther during/following the riots in the '60s. Hell, look at the politicians elected in PG County- The Johnsons!!! The Feds need to take over that county! I don't even like DRIVING thru that county!

MoCo Longtimer you should talk. Montgomery County is not the greatest either, I lived in Montgomery for a year, it has its same issues as PG but PG gets most of the press due to the large black population it has. Yes PG has a lot of work to do to get itself together, there are communities within PG that are much better than those parts of PG that are close to the DC line. So when you throw rocks MoCo Longtimer, this PG Longtimer will throw them right back at you until we all work together to make the whole area lik PG and Mont Counties better and more like Virginia, what do you say are you with me to make things better?

WASHINGTON
A former corrections officer in a Maryland county faces federal charges after the death of a detainee who had been accused of killing a county police officer.

Anthony McIntosh was arrested in New York City on Thursday, accused of failing to alert emergency workers after finding an inmate unresponsive in his Prince George's County jail cell in June 2008.

An indictment unsealed Thursday charges McIntosh with a federal civil rights violation and with two counts of destroying or falsifying records in a federal investigation.

Ronnie White was found dead in his jail cell days after he was arrested in the hit-and-run death of Cpl. Richard Findley. The state medical examiner ruled the 19-year-old was strangled and declared the death a homicide

Court records don't show an attorney for McIntosh.
