Methadone Clinics are just another way for the goverment to make money off of poor junkies. Legal drug pushers! And you bet you sweet ass if you got any addiction you better have some money or they wont treat you Whats up with that

This is really not helping the pain patients here, if you are an addict and you were spending thousands of dollars on drugs, you should be able to afford or pay for some sort of medical insurance or some sort of medicade. Or you can work your butt off, as this country truly does provide the oppurtunity to do so, and find a way to pay for your treatment. I dont get the type of people who cant stand the govt, and tells them to get out of their livesl, but then complain when the govt wont help them get help from drugs. Yes if i had it my way, all the addicts would be provded with the addequite attention that was necessary for their recovery, but last time i checked intelligent people arn't allowed in Washington.

Heather, Not exactly sure what it is you are saying? The majority of Methadone Clinics are private facilities, with the Patient paying for their own treatment and some of them do accept insurance. The State/Federal funded Methadone clinics have a "sliding scale" fee structure, so the Government is not making very much money from their Patients. As for having to pay for services rendered. Here in the States we have many Dr.s who have private practices and yes, Patients are expected to pay for their services or have insurance that will help pay for it.

So when you get injured and need pain medication and accidently become addicted, how do you plan to take care of yourself?

Be careful what you "wish for" or "write" because it may just happen to you.

Well the folks in Washington have their own drugs
of choice including alcohol. Then they spend days and lots of tax dollars legislating against OTC
medications - Primateme and sudafed-

There are not enough clinics in this country or enough employees to help any of the pain clinics
or rehabs.

We need to start educating the children and the parents how not to use drugs (including antibiotics) or every ailment we have.

Insurance companies will not cover 90% of people if they are on any psychotropic meds, let alone
narcotics. And when health insurance costs more than what a person makes in 1 or 2 weeks per month, we have some problems.

Heather I don't know where your from but in NJ most of the patients at the clinics (as far as I could see) are poor and the clinic puts them on payment plans or helps in other ways if they can't afford it. Not all are out to make money...

Methadone SAVES Lives!

There has been much written of late about the rise in deaths due to the abuse of Methadone. We lament these deaths, but feel that there has arisen a hysteria that proposes to restrict futher this life-saving medication to the detriment of the 250,000 patients who receive this drug daily.

Methadone, when used correctly, is an effective and inexpensive pain medication. In addiction treatment programs, methadone acts as endorphin replacement for the damaged brain chemistries brought about by long term exposure to opiates. It has been utilized safely and scrutinized closely for five decades, and has been declared the "gold standard" for opiate addiction treatment by our government's National Institutes of Health. It is also the most closely regulated drug in existance when used for this purpose.

Autopsies do not take into account if someone was being treated with methadone. The Medical Examiners look at the level in the system and make their determination from that. It does not matter to them that the person actually died of cancer. If their level is considered lethal (for a non-tolerant person) it is called methadone overdose, even though the patient was on a therapeutically correct maintenance level. I do not know that this problem can ever be resolved.

PLEASE sign the petition below.... and be sure to read the comments by those that have already signed. They tell the TRUE stories of how lives have been effected.

Its the wafers which are 40mgs that are only going to be available to clinics. You will still be able to get the pills from your doctor.

I was on the methodone for a while through my doctor and did not like the way it made me feel at all. I became very moody and mean on this drug for some reason. This is just my take on it though.

Hi piller

Can I ask you how long you were on your methadone. It could of been that you were on to low or to high of a dose and that's why you could of felt moody.

When you were on it, how did you get off of it and how long did it take you to come off of it?

Thanks

I was on 80mg a day. He gave me 1 40mg to take twice a day. I know this is great for some just not for me. He had to slowly take me off by downing my dose over a 3 month spand.

Hi Piller up...tapering you off of 80mgs in only three months was way to fast. Sorry to hear that's what happened. So what do you take now if anything at all. Have a nice day.

I went back on percocet 10/325 and for break through pain I recieve an extra script of percocet 5/325. I like them much better than methodone as I said I was a very mean person for some reason on methodone. The only thing with the percocet I don't like is the constipation that comes with it at times.

Are you on Methodone Guest One? If so how much? How do you like it and how does it make you feel?

Piller Up,
Honey, you should never have been put on Methadone!! This is something which personally irks me...when doctors put people on Methadone because it's good for pain.
Until every other avenue has been taken, every other road traveled, no one should be started on Methadone for pain!
And I would bet that your dose was too high but that doesn't even matter. You are someone who should never have been put on this med.
I'm so happy that you are back on something that you should be on instead of a drug that should only be taken when all else failed for pain control.
Happy New Year, Piller Up.....and it should be for you!
Much Love,
Rita

Hi Piller Up

Happy to hear that you're on percocets now for your pain. Like Rita has said you should of never been put on methadone in the first place.

I'm no longer on methadone yet I am on a morphine maintenance program. Methadone did save my life and was happy at the time it was there for me. I was on it for a few years and tapered for a year and a half...was clean for a few years then due to something that come up in life that caused me physical pain...I'm not on narcotic maintenance.

Good Luck Piller Up...Happy New Year

Well maybe I will get lucky and this back pain with the shots they are giving me go away. This way I can come off of narcotics all together. I hate having to rely on medicine to live although at this point I have no choice. Happy New Year to you also, pillerup

Hi Piller up, I totally understand what your going thru with back pain. I have spinal stenosis and neuroforaminal narrowing in the L4-L5 and L5 and SI. along with Facet Arthorpathy in the same areas. The pain can be brutal at times. I also have other things going on which cause me even more pain in other joints and all over. I had tried the injections you are now going for and didnt get any relief and finally got on methadone for my pain and have now been able to finally have a life. I am lucky I am able to even move with the conditions I have...methadone has literally saved my life.
I do agree with Rita and everyone else that you should have never been put on methadone and I am sorry you had to go thru that.
I want to wish you luck with your injections and I do hope they work for you and your able to get off all narcotics. But if your unable to, you should ask your doctor for just straight oxycodone rather than the percoset. It has too much tylenol in it to be taking it as you do. Best of luck to you and HAPPY NEW YEAR.
Thank you. My Doctor wanted to switch me to oxycotin and I refused. I think I will look into what you said about the tylenol. I just wish I could go back to a normal life with out any drugs or theropy but that is a wish I don't see coming true anytime in the near future. I hate being trapped between drugs and shots and everything in between (I am sure you understand what I mean). Maybe I could click my heals together and go home, lol.

Thank you again and a very Happy New Year to you also
