I think the mother of the said infant should be punished as well as the creep that hurt the child. What happened to putting your children first and concentrating on raising them instead of fullfilling all thier own needs? The bad choices these women make most of the time hurt the children. The kids should be number one to these mothers and few,few boyfriends like other guys children. If they do they are the true exception.

This is so horrible! What will happen to the baby, mother and father? The sad thing is we are in Polk Co. and people here don't seem to get the punishment that they deserve. So, hopefully the mother will be charged knowing that the father is a drunk, and leaving the baby in his hands, even for a moment!! The father will be charged, and given lots of prison, not jail, time! And, the baby will be given the chance to have a better life that he deserves, with a loving family.

I think that your comments are a little nieve about this mother. You didnt know her situation with the child. Was she trying to support the child on her own, and couldnt financial make it. Was the real father paying child support. Did the mother and child become homeless and had no choice to live there, before words come out of your mouth. Maybe you should be better informed. I know what it is like to raise 4 children on my own and work 80 hours a week to do so. I know what it is like to be come homeless, because the neighbor called social services and reported I was never home, and their case wasnt meant for working mothers!! Only welfare moms. The social worker on the case raised her children on the welfare system and had no concept of working and raising children. I lost my home, my job, and moved into a bad situation with my children, as I had no choice. Before your mouth opens make sure you walk a mile in some one elses shoes before you speak. I may show a sign of intelligents next time. Apparently you havent experienced much reponsiablities in life!! I just double checked the story printed about this case, and apparently this guy IS the baby's natural father. I can only speak for what normally happens in NW WI...fathers have just as much right to their children as the mother UNLESS a Court Order states differently. And UNTIL there IS a Court Order EITHER parent has full rights to the child. That being said, I would guess that after this guy serves out his punishment, if any, he will have only supervised visitation with his child. IF Social Services do what they are paid to do in this case. I saw nothing in the story to indicate that the Mom knew about and condoned the child abuse. From what I read she called for help as soon as she could and is fully cooperating with Police. I have little doubt that this lady feels a huge amount of guilt for not being able to protect her child.

I would happen to be this child's mother. I appreciate all of you who have made your comments known whether they are positive or not. I would like it to be known that I was unaware of my child being abused by her father until I came out of the grocery store and found my daughter choking and bleeding from her mouth and her face was turning blue. I repeatedly asked her father to call 911 which he refused to let me near a phone to call for help and assured me our daughter was going to be ok and he didn't want the cops called since he was on Probation and not supposed to be drinking. The first chance I had to sneak to a phone I called for an ambulance. My daughter's dad took off so the cops wouldn't know he was drinking and I sat by my daughter's side for the next 3 weeks watching her suffer. The doctor at Children's Hospital sat me down after my daughter was air lifted there and informed me he didn't think my daughter would make it over 24 hours due to her injuries. Her dad pled guilty to Child Abuse-Causing great bodily harm to an infant in 2007 and was sentenced to prison. The justice for my child was not given as her dad only served 14 months in prison and one year of parole. He's been a free man for a couple years now and my daughter will suffer the damages he caused for the rest of her life. My daughter received 17 broken ribs, a skull fracture, a laceration on her left sinus from him trying to choke her, bruising on her scalp and needed a blood transfusion as well as induced into a coma due to her seizures and having to be intibated. Due to the lack of oxygen she had and no one knowing how long she was deprived of oxygen, the extent of her life long damages will not be known until they appear during her development stages. My daughter's father did have his parental rights taken away from him which is the best thing for my daughter. My daughter turned 5 in March and will be entering kindergarden in the fall.
