Once again the local Polk County lawyer Denny Mobbs is trying desperately to desecrate the Cherokee National Forest and Little Frog Mountain Wilderness Preserve. Kimsey Mountain Road is also State Forest Road 68 and is owned and maintained by the National Forest Service. Why anyone would want to turn a beautiful one lane gravel National Forest access road into a raging four lane type interstate highway with all the associated noise, pollution, and overall destructive nature it will bring to a pristine National Forest is beyond my comprehension. Those of us who understand why there is a National Forest and who love the Cherokee National Forest wonder, "Where do the roads end so the Forest can begin?" Click on the link below and ask yourself.

Denny Mobbs appears to be an unsavory charater.

When I lived in McCaysville, I would often make the drive over the Kimsey mountain road. It was breathtaking, especailly after a spring rain or during the splendor of the fall. It was really riding through the forest.
Why is there a necessity now to turn it into a highway? Has that area grown that much? That's a shame. |

Has anyone ever saw the concrete structures and dam that is in Kimsey Mountain. I was jeep riding through the mountain and discovered a jeep trail that ran out to this sturcture. It's almost 50 feet tall, it has 4 pillars on each side and the ceiling has 2 holes in the roof that appears to be like a skylight. It made me wonder and I can't find any information on it. Thanks.

It looks like the old Kimsey Mountain Rd is off the table as a route for corridor k according to the local polk county newspaper. Denny Mobbs must
be one unhappy camper. http://www.polknewsonline.com/2009/06/24/Top_... http://www.polknewsonline.com/2009/06/24/Top_... |
