New mother found dead in hospital waiting room

On the story I read it said hospitality/waiting room. Regardless that is just very sad for that family!

The article is a bit unclear......there are two likely possibilities....she was in the OB/GYN waiting room, or one of the courtesy rooms provided for parents to stay in.

The hospitality room is a great service for moms whose babies are sick. I just hope this tragedy does not ruin it for everyone. There is obviously more to this story than what is being reported.

RPD report her name was Stephanie Maylee of Rolla. And before anyone starts bashing her or the hospital, THE CAUSE OF DEATH IS NOT KNOWN AT THIS TIME!

Could it have been murder? Or is that not likely.

NOBODY will know anything until the autopsy comes back! Spreading rumors and ass-u-me-ing just makes you look like a jackass. How would you like people doing that if it were your family member or close friend? Stop and think before you open your mouth or turn your fingers loose on a keyboard. Everybody has friends and family.

She had just had a baby Friday night and her family found her dead Monday morning. Her family lives in Cuba and I think she was 22. The baby is just fine from what they've said to the friends of family. The father is very heartbroken as is the rest of the family.

How horrible! No matter what happened to this girl the baby has to grow up without its mother. So respect the family don't start rumors! Its a horrible situation. My thoughts are with the family.

Hey Im one of her closet friends. Of her and her brother. This shouldn't of been put on TOPIX at all. Leave it alone. And NO she didnt do drugs. IF you don't know what u r talking about then plz be quite about it. The family is going through enough right now and a hard time.

That's how I feel about this whole site! It's nothing but rumors and bs. Leave people alone. It's honestly no ones business but the family. Many prayers going out to the family.

You got that right. Rolls Topix is all about rumoring and gossiping. Folks around he'ya seem to enjoy beating each other up emotionally (and sometimes physically) though. Insecurities? Neurosis?.. or just plain ignorance? It wreaks of a mass sub-cultural issue, think?

It was just confirmed on the news that she passed away from a pain perscription overdose. Very sad. Thoughts go out to her children and family!!

The news last night said the baby was early and that the state will prolly take the baby bc the dad does drugs. It will be sad if this is true bc that little baby will not know either parent. The hospital might have given her to big of a dosage of medicine for what her body could handle. I hope the family looks into that as a possibility. You just never know about this hospital.

I know OD from pain meds is easy when you're in pain. If you're in so much discomfort that you can't remember if you took them or not or if you accidentally mix pain meds. I'm so sorry to hear this. Please don't bash anyone or the hospital. It sounds like a very unfortunate situation. I pray for the baby. So sad.

no, she accidently od. she had a c-section and was in alot of pain. the state has already taken custody of the baby. they were told something was wrong with her, but i guess no one checked on her. R.I.P. and lets not bad mouth on here ok

If the family needs a lawyer I know a really good one. I'd at least look into a possible suit. If the hospital is responsible then there should be some action. I don't know how someone OD whole staying in a hospital.

The Phelps County Coroner's Office said the preliminary findings of the autopsy revealed Maylee died from an apparent self-induced prescription medication overdose. Further toxicology and pathology results will be forthcoming. No foul play is suspected.
