Why have they not released the name of the driver and is it true it involved someone considered important with lots of connections to the law? Hum..... could that be why her or he wasn't named?
Reports say driver was questioned. Were any substance tests done? Hum....
Sounds like there is much more to this story. Perhaps the Chicago Tribune can find out the parts of the story that have been omitted.

The driver was not at fault. His/Her name should not be mentioned.

Manslaughter? Please. Young kids were messing around, did something really stupid and a tragedy occurred.

Jim wrote: murder plain and simple, only one side to a story makes lies true i guess There is no way you can know that! The article stated they were horsing around. It also stated they were friends. At this point I'm fairly certain the guy who shoved his friend into traffic probably feels like his life can't get any lower, quite sad. But, you keep making accusations from your ivory tower!

I guess there is a point with charging him? Yeah, that will bring back his friend.
People to stupid things whether in college or on leave from the military. Criminalizing the event does nothing positive.

I'm tired of having expectations lowered on adulthood and age. Remember when 18 was an adult? Now there's always he's only, she's only (enter age) where do we draw the line? Our society is getting dumber and lazier by the minute and people who keep making laws and excuses for morons, aren't making it better.

Sticks and Stones wrote: Manslaughter? Please. Young kids were messing around, did something really stupid and a tragedy occurred. That's what manslaughter is. Wikipedia: "Involuntary manslaughter, sometimes called criminally negligent homicide in the United States,... occurs where there is no intention to kill or cause serious injury but death is due to recklessness or criminal negligence."

If you don't make them accountable before 19 they'll never be adults.

I just remember when I was that age and even though I was pretty responsible I was still likely to do stupid things from time to time. It just seems a shame that one person lost his life and the other will probably suffer the rest of his life for something that was an accident. Yes I'm calling this an accident because that's what it was.
