OMG! What were these parents thinking? I have a 15 year old and a 12 year old and I would never do that. So many things can happen - four-wheelers and motorcycles are so dangerous for everyone let alone a bunch of unsupervised kids. This is just an accident waiting to happen. I hope the parents learned from this...

People....That is why you don't believe the what you read in the media. They always juice it up to make a story. Both parents were there the entire time, and hepled in the search. All of the boys have years of experience, they just took a wrong trail which took them in the wrong direction.

THEY WERE DROPPED OFF??? WTH, come on people, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to tell you that this isn't common sense. A 70 year old man just died simply using his 4 wheeler on his own property and you want to drop off 4 CHILDREN UNSUPERVISED with motor vehicles....AND how did the children get lost, where were they supposed to go? I am sure nothing with happen to these parents as far as the law is concerned but at least I feel better yelling about this STUPID, STUPID act of "good" Parenting!

Talk about not knowing the facts. The fact is the parents WERE there with the boys! They were not dropped off! The boys just took a wrong turn off trail, and got their direction mixed up. The parents immediatly started searching. This can happen to anyone. These are responsible, attentive parents who were taking their kids out for a fun afternoon. Don't believe everything you here from a pumped up media story! Don't pass judgement when you don't know the facts! And to the people who have nothing better to do than get on here and put down parents who are already upset... Get a Life!!!!

I guess maybe it is true, people feel better about themselves by putting other people down. Bad parenting? Not even close. The parents were there the ENTIRE time, but that doesn't make the story quite so enticing, does it? This was supposed to be a fun outting for the boys to ride bikes in an area designated specifically for riding. Unfortunately, the boys did take a wrong turn and became lost. The feeling of losing your child is something I cannot put into words. Bad parents? The Dads involved here are at every school event these kids have, they are at every ball practice and game these children have ever had. Camping trips, fishing trips, and a weekend trip to Oceans of Fun are also things these "bad parents" have done to their children! The safety of these children is TOP PRIORITY to the parents and is never compromised. The parents enrolled the kids in Hunter's Safety class recently that provided instruction on what to do if you become lost in the woods. These kids obviously listened! Talk about brave young men!! Lastly, as a paret, I want to say what an AWESOME job everyone involved in the search did. The professionalism, organization, and intensity of the peolpe helping out there did not go unnoticed or unappreciated. You are all credits to your respective professions! THANK YOU!!!

If I ever had the media make a mistake in the broadcast of a story I would be having my entire family, and friends call them until they corrected the story. It isn't too much to ask for you know, I think they have apologized on air at least 3 times in a week. I apologize in turn for jumping to conclusions when normally I would ask important questions first. They would have been, "how could the parents not be under DHS investigation for doing something so careless." etc. I am glad that they are all okay.

I am a family member of one the boys who was lost in the park last night. I can tell you that bad parenting was NOT the issue. My sister and brother -in -law are tremendous parents, and my nephew would attest to that. He and his brother are happy young men who are physically, emotionally, and spiritually provided for. My sister loves being a mother and adores her boys. She and her husband are involved in every aspect of their lives. They would NEVER carelessly drop them off anywhere without adult supervision. As previously noted, there WAS parental supervision during the outing. I have been told that there will be another news story tonight at which time hopefully more of the facts should be cleared up. My nephew is a good kid with loving, involved, protective parents who could teach parenting classes about how to raise healthy and happy kids. There was a prayer chain reaching from Tulsa to Europe last night of concerned family members who love these kids. Also, God bless the search and rescue workers who brought our boys back. Thank you for what you did last night and for the kind of work you do every day.

My son was one of the boys lost last night. I can tell you it was the most terrifying events I have ever experienced. To clarify, there were four boys and two adults....ratio is better than the puplic school system (30 students two one adult). The boys were never left alone. All of the boys enjoy the outdoors ratther than video ganes and TV. As parents, we chaporne almost every activity our children are involved in. I pray that no parent ever experiences the terror of not knowing where you child is.I thank Jesus Christ for answering prayer. I encourage everyone to place their trust in God....he truly is the maker of miracles......Psalm 91.

I think either way they can both report the mistake, News on 6 reported someone dead in the horse wrecks last week and then came on and apologized, saying that HP told them the wrong info and they both retract that mistake. I seriously believe, whomever it was needs to say an apology somewhere somehow if in fact they were wrong.

Ok, after reading the story and then the comments I have to ask:
A Parent said there were two adults with the 4 kids.
Someone else said that the kids took a wrong turn and got lost.
So I have to ask, where were the adults? Why was there not an adult pulling up the rear?
That said, the area is an island and not a very big one so it isn't like it was going to be a week long ordeal.
I think the adults could have done things differently on the trails. But, everyone is ok and that is the good thing. Not something that should get their kids taken away by any means.
