Geneva woman arrested in drug bust is acquitted

CANANDAIGUA — A Geneva woman arrested in a drug bust last fall was acquitted Wednesday afternoon in Ontario County Court.

A jury found Cindy Bice, 41, of Universal Ave., not guilty of felony charges of criminal possession and sale of a controlled substance.

Geneva police arrested Bice and her 38-year-old husband, Tyshawn, in October.

“It was pretty clear the target of the investigation from start to finish was the husband,”[ Bice’s attorney, Robert Tucker of Palmyra] said.“She just happened to be in the car .... Unfortunately for my client, this was the time police decided to arrest the husband.”

County Assistant District Attorney James Ritts prosecuted the case. He said the jury didn’t believe Cindy Bice was an accomplice in the drug sales.

“I couldn’t prove anything more than she was just there,” he said.“...The proof just wasn’t there.”
