The Commercial Bank does not handle the pool. Contact Shirley Kidd or Carolyn Paradise. You have to purchase a share if one is available and that will run you between 350-400 and the dues are $125 this year plus $2 for each key.

Why is there a private pool in the middle of a public park?

The pool was private before the park was public.

Ok I get that. The park was private before it was public also right? I am curious as to why the pool remained private while the park became public. It would seem logical that when the park was acquired the pool would have been too. Does the pool help pay for road access, lights, etc. or is that covered by the park?

The land the pool sits on is owned by a private Corp. That corp pays property taxes and has its own lights which it pays for. Members of the corp pays yearly dues that pay for all the upkeep and bills. The road was there providing access to the property before there was a Bryant Park. The road must remain accessable to the pool members as you can not land lock property and they all own that property. If you are interested in becoming a member you should contact the pool board and request to purchase a share. If there is a share available they will set you up if not you can be placed on a waiting list.
