Roadkill wrote: <quoted text> More oil will not make energy more available and more affordable.....I know that is the mantra of the left, but what is the logic behind it? Doing NOTHING, the left's favorite approach (no new oil, no new refineries, no coal, no nukes, etc.) leads to energy.....how? Before saying no to everything, they need a credible alternative. The key is "credible"....we can't run our economy on "hope" or "change". The information that Fafnir provided is from the US Energy Information Administration, not from "the left." I favor nuclear energy as the only viable solution to global warming. As pointed out previously, you'd need 4,000 industrial wind turbines to produce as much electricity as ONE nuclear plant. I'm a Republican and I oppose an industrial wind farm on Blue Mountain because Blue Mountain is the US's most famous hawk migration corridor. Don Heintzelman is a highly respected ornithologist, so his opinion is of more value than those of laypeople.

I don't know what Mr. Nackley's electric bill is like, but mine, like yours, peaks in winter, but that's only because I don't have AC. My neighbors' electric bills all peak in summer, because they have AC. As a whole, PA's electricity consumption is highest in the summer. That's why brownouts and blackouts occur in SUMMER.

I'm still waiting for your citations refuting the findings of the US Energy Information Administration and your citations proving that "uber-naturalists" predicted the extinction of the wild turkey. The burden of proof is on you, not me, because you are the one who made these statements. Prove them.

There is absolutely no relationship between electricity generation and energy independence. There is nothing cheap about wind energy. The disturbance to natural habitat is unnecessary. Their nothing but a big nuisance on the grid. Somebody called them parasites because of the energy they consume. The only thing clean is the fuel source. The machinery itself requires a lot of maintenance which means a lot of money. Without gov't help they won't be built.
