My parents weren't members of a house of worship & they never gave me alcohol. My husband & I are not members of a house of worship & we do not, nor do we plan to, give our child alcohol. On the other hand I have known people who WERE members of a church & DID give their children alcohol. Worsip doesn't matter. Though apparently it's ok if the preist has some during mass. This is an example of what is wrong and perverse with America today. If this sorry excuse for a human being was a member of a house of worship, she would never have supplied her son with Vodka.
She should be made to go to a house of worship and volunteer her time for 12 months. Then she should be made to see the effects of drunk drivers by being made to work in the city morgue cleaning up the results of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
This person is a result of what is wrong with America today. Our society has gone away from a law abiding society predicated upon the tenets of the founders of this country. Religious freedom was meant to make sure that every Sunday or Saturday a house of worship was to be attended to so that we can refect upon our lives during the past week.

Interesting view, but I'm not sure that that is exactly what the founding fathers had in mind when they called for religious freedom... |

In my family this issue has been hot! I have a step-daughter that is 19 years old and every one of us remembers being 19. I feel that a law is a law whether you agree with it or not. It’s a legal issue on top of all the moral issues this story stirs. I don’t want my family to suffer the consequences for breaking this law such as the ones the judge sentenced. Besides the sentence to jail time, a $500 fine, drug and alcohol eval, random screenings, four AA/NA meetings a week and anti-psychotropics, I would lose my job and have to change my career and everyone could read about it in the paper. I am not willing to live through that because my kid can't wait 2 more years. Heck, if she gets in any trouble until then I can always bail her out of jail and get her an attorney.

Here we go again!! Another women that believes laws don't apply to her. She is a friend to her kids. To light a sentence because she cried. C'mon judges start sentencing these stupid women to what they deserve!!

Her kids are never going to respect her. You can not be your children's friends. Though I hated them at the time my parents were strict. I did try to do things just because they said no. I did not get away with mostof it though. Because of the way the raised me and my brothers we have the upmost respect for them. People wonder why kids are out of hand today. Because parents aren't doing their job.

What if alcohol is in your home. And its for yourself and you come home from work and your 16 year old and his friend is drunk. would you still be in trouble. Just wondering.

I wouldn't say that a 16 year old is a child. She shouldn't be giving them alcohol. It's not fair, I had to sneek around when I was 16 and wanted alcohol.

Too bad she didn't live in Lehigh County. DA Jim "Hiccup" Martin never goes after adults who supply alkie-hol to minors. Heck, Jimbo doesn't even go after drunk adults who kill people driving drunk ...

That is where you are wrong. My parents were well respected members of the community (News Reporters for NBC affiliate). They made six figure salary and had their own publishing business. My grades in high school were not good enough to get a scholarship and I joined the US Army for my country. There I got money to go to a National Business College when I got out to become an accoutant. My parents taught me respect for fellow man. And yes, they were good role models. I raised in a non abusive home and were did family vacations together. My parents were good role models. They taught me that hard work will get you everywhere and respect for a job well done. |
