Nicholas County Deputies tax levy

I think before people vote yes on this levy they should ask other employees how much they make (and they don't get a drive home car) some of the county employees work all holidays and weekends. On christmas when the deputies are at home they are sitting at their job. Shouldn't they get paid more also. Think about this.

I think all county employees should get a raise, but Deputies and all law enforcement officers risk their lives everyday to protect the citizens of Nicholas County. They never know who or what they are really coming up against even at a simple traffic stop. It could be a hopped up drug abuser who will shoot or run over them. They may come up on a domestic situation where they could easily be shot. Their jobs are much more risker that the average county employees. The county employees working on Christmas are safe and sound in an office. Also other county employees who work holidays are compensated with time off and additionally their schedule is usually set up on holidays so everyone gets a chance to spend some time with their families on Christmas. Our deputies need paid more so they will stay on the job. The longer a deputy stays in the county the better they know the county, it's citizen's, it's criminals, it's drug addicts, it's drunks, who is driving without a license, etc. Not to mention the thousands it cost the tax payers to train new officers, to have them leave the department within five years. Also maybe if the levy passes, then the Commission will give the other county employees a raise also. VOTE TO PASS THE DEPUTY LEVY!!!

The county commission will not give the other county employees a raise, they give the sheriff's department to much money. They have one officer who lives in Clay County and has for almost a year and drove a county car home everyday. What good does he do our citizens in another county and it takes him almost 1 hour to get to work. All I am saying is think long and hard about this. Look at each department in the county and who works all shifts along with those deputies and doesn't make 1/4 of what they do.
