A transgender's life in transition

It's very strange that this person lived as a man for 59 years and then decided to become a woman. That is what confuses me. Whatever makes him/her happy, but this has to be very difficult for the son and grandchildren to accept.

No, I'm not starting a club! That's already been done! What I'm doing is giving an accurate response to the misinformation that seems to be circulating around about us. We are a small number of people (less than 1%)and it's easy to get steam rolled by a lot of people who learned everything they know from the Jerry Springer show and his ilk. "This Person" Existed as a very unhappy man for 59 years. The only deciding done was to go forward with the transition. It would have been much easier to transition at an earlier age. However, Society was taking an even dimmer view of it then. Many TSes were hospitalised as psychotic and schizophrenic and given all sorts of horrible treatments, None of which cured them of anything. Today, Medicine realizes it's mistake. There are Standards Of Care for transexuals and the success rate is about 98%. Success being defined as a relief of symptoms of depression, suicidal ideation, etc. Google Lynnconway.com

Thanks for schooling me. I don't have a problem with gays fixing their genders provided they foot the bill themselves. I just don't want to pay a tax for a govt healthcare plan that offers such service.

Gays who feel this is an issue with their bodies should foot the bill 100%! Its called personal responsibility.

The reason men become transexuals is sex, not to pose for photos in newspapers. This story does not mention anything about the subject's sex life. The most important element is missing. Does he go with gay men? Straight men? What is his proclivity? Is he in a relationship? Or does he cruise for one-night stands? Not to be morally judgmental, but from the standpoint of....why is this article being written? What makes it interesting? There are lots of transexuals...nothing new.

When it comes to being gay, lesbian, transgender etc, its all and only about sex. Thats why gays are so hot to gain the so called right to marry. They just want to codify their illicit behavior into law. It protects a sliver of the population from being cast out like a leper was once.

Its smoke and mirrors on their part, the public sees through this. Any change to the 1000 plus year old status quo should be decided by the people, not politicos or judges with warped social agendas.

Calling Transexuals "Gays" is like calling a horse a goat! We're not Gay! No Gay wants to change his (Or her)gender. Gays just want to basically have sex with others of the same gender. Sex is not the driving force with Transexuals. Personal identity is. I know you'll have trouble with this, but many TSes are asexual after transition. Many are not. Many find themselves still atttracted to women. There is no hard and fast rule regarding sexual attraction. I don't control what Obama's minions wil do with their socialised medicine plans. But clearlyn you regards this as being not necessary. Medicine will show where you are wrong about that.
We are suffering just as much as anyone else and just as much in need of relief as someone else.
I guarantee you that if the govt decides to fund it, it will cost far less than is spent on repiratory diseases such a emphasema or lung cancer or on fatty hearts due to poor diets. Putting us in
prison or psyche hospitals is even more expensive and less productive. Surgical Transition is the cheapest methhod all around.

It is often the case that transsexuals will deny that part of themselves for very long times. In the case of many male to female transsexuals, they will try to "cure" it by doing very masculine things or even seek love and marriage. Those things help for some time but will usually not cure the transsexual of their feelings. There comes a point where their condition cannot be ignored and they have to deal with it. It is not uncommon for someone to transition later in life. Donna Rose, Anne Lawrence and Jennifer Boylan transitioned later in life.

As for the children and grandchildren, adult children take it differently than young children but they do not necessarily take it hard. It depends on the bond between the family members. There are so many more resources available now to transsexuals and their families that the chances of families staying together through transition is improving.

Do you think that those people who eat steaks and hamburgers everyday should pay for their own triple bypass surgeries? How about those women who actually get pregnant and expect insurance to pay for the delivery of their children? I mean, they could (should?) have kept their legs closed and the expense would have been avoided? Should heavy drinkers be forced to pay for their own liver transplants, perhaps? And what about these old people who choose to live way way past their usefulness. Shouldn't they choose to die so the taxpayers can save some money?

Your position is laced with ignorance and bigotry but I suspect that's because you just don't know any better. Gender identity conditions are a medical issue, just like heart and liver disease. The American Medical Association passed a resolution just last year that supports the fact that gender identity dysphoria is a medical issue and should be covered by insurance companies. They join all of the main stream medical organizations in that position.

Transsexual people are not necessarily gay either. Trans men and women exhibit all the variations in sexual orientation that cissexual people do. I think, perhaps, you may want to do a bit more research on the subject before you comment some more about a subject that you clearly are not yet equipped to intelligently comment upon.

Let us know, please, how you follow the Bible in its entirety before accusing others of being wrong when they choose to ignore the parts of the Bible that are harmful and hateful.

Do you own slaves? Do you beat them?(Exodus 21) How about polygamy? Does your wife let you sleep with her serving girls?(Abraham and Sarah) Would you offer your virgin daughters to a mob?(Lot) Would they later on get you drunk and rape you to get pregnant?(Lot again, Genesis 19, iirc)

How about if your virgin daughter gets raped? Are you ready to accept your daughter's rapist as your son in law?(Deut 22:28:29)

In our case, Yes! But the penis is not removed, it is inverted. They make an "innie" out of a "outie".
