I say let them do what they want, its there land, next these people will say we need to stop farming,or no trailer parks.people should stop trying to tell people what they can or cant do,just more of takeing your rights away, when is it going to stop.if they dont like it move the hell back to were they came from.

First off with response to the first comment. The people who own the land for the mud bog are not local and do not live there. they just own the land. Secondly, I had a run in with the boggers last weekend for parking and blocking traffic on the main road when they have 50 acres of field to park in. I am not for or against the mud bog as long as they respect the local people who live there. This means NOT parking on the road. Also as a local volunteer EMS it will pose problems for us, as we are short on help now. I do know one of the boggers made a comment to me that they could do what they wanted there as there is no law around. I would like to know the owners plan and they should do a community meeting at the community center in Waiteville to tell us their plans so we can all make informed decisions.

Well now, lets see,,Anita Simmons,is the one doing the mud bogg, and she is just as much apart of this area as the rest.she was raised in sweet springs.if you would have checked.and as for the parking, and blocking traffic,Yes a man with one good leg,an 1 art, leg.was unloading a tractor..guess that really tied up all the waiteville traffic, lol the locals block the road all the time.this is normal for some to down something before it even starts. The mudd bogg is scheduled for 2 events this yr.this is a controled event, and as for all the so called noise,if driveing fence posts is to much for Hansbarger an Shreve, maybe they need to move back were they came from..Whats next no farming because the cows make to much noise, and as far as a burden on the local EMS,I'm sure they can get one to stand by for the event, union, sweet springs,if its just to much for the locals to handle a 1 day event.

Dingo, it wasn't because of the tractor unloading, there were several vehicles with ATVs on them parked along the road. The tractor was already in the field. So maybe you don't have all your facts straight either. And with other events lately in the valley I think most people are being overly cautious. I am part of the local EMS and we have not been approached about helping to cover and are not against or for the bogging. Ms. Shreve had not discussed it with the local EMS either, so she was just giving her opinion. This is why I recommended the community meeting. I think the majority of the folks are for the bogging only because they don't want someone to tell them what to do with their land later. And when we say local, we mean from the Pott's Creek Valley.

Hey Dingo, For the most part most people aren't opposed to the mud bogging (that means we aren't against it). We are just looking out for our future if this thing takes off it wont be just 2 events it could be every weekend from April till Sept. I would like to be better informed as to the prospects of this adventure and where it could lead. I don't want to have to sit and wait for traffic to clear just because someone wants to play in the mud. This is a big field and plenty of room to unload and do whatever off the state road. As far as you dingo please use spell check before you stereotype all the citizens of the Waiteville community. Don't know you ,don't want to thanks.

Well since you know me you know how I can be... But when the comment was made to me that they could do what they wanted because there was no law here made me alittle upset. The issue is how this will affect the community and how can you say it is 4 miles from the community? I thought the whole area here from state line to state line was Waiteville. Maybe I am wrong but have only been here 27 years. I did see the petitions at Paint Bank General Store but have not signed either one since I do not have all the information. Not sure how far this issue is going to go but can see both sides.

I think that would be wonderful! The people who don't like mud bogging could watch mud wrestling between races.

Hey herb girl- the people who originated stopping the mudbogging are mad because the mudboggers didn't get their "permission" to put something on the property. They are not violating any business or building regulations. Are you ready to have this couple decide that you can do with your property? I didn't realize that a WV business had to get clearance from a VA EMS squad. Good to know.

They don't have to have permission from anyone and the Paint Bank fire and rescue are the ones that respond when WV EMS can't or won't. And yes, I do agree, this couple should not be dictating what everyone else does with their property. I still think a community meeting would be nice but knowing how well we all get along (like oil and water) just to let the Waiteville community know what is going to be expected. As far as Paint Bank, I don't even think it would be legal for them to cover but since the closest trauma ER is at RMH in Roanoke that does mean running into VA. And we do work with Monroe EMS on calls in Waiteville. But back to the mud bogging I really don't see a problem with it and this is just stirring up lots of other issues. It is their property, so they may do what they want to. I surely don't want anyone to tell me what to do with my property and this is not something that will go well in this community or even this county. That is city/suburbia, gated community type thing. If that is what people want then that is where they should live.

OK... I'd be pissed too if someone told me what I could do with my land, for my personal use.

However, when someone starts a business, that infringes on others rights to a peaceful and quite living should have community agreement.

How about comments from more local people, instead of those too far away to even be annoyed by the traffic, trash, disruption and assault on the peace and quiet.

the mudboggers are planning to hold events only 2-5 times a year. Hunting season is longer than that and many of them leave traffic, trash, disruption and assault on the peace and quiet. Are the hunters the next targets? Someone said that if the mudboggers wanted to do this they should have moved it to an area back in the woods. Not exactly good business sense, is it? Businesses need to be where people are. Be thankful that the people doing the mudbogging were considerate enough to put the bog in the middle of the field where it is not close to anyone's home.

I could hear the ATVs the day they had them there two weeks ago and I live a ways up the road. The noises echo of those mountains so badly in certain places of the valley. I think part of these people are from the valley and others are not. The Peterstown hot topix has way more comments for those who want to see those.

I live within a mile of the mud bogging site and it doesn't bother me. I just don't want someone trying to tell me what I can or can't do with my property!
