Mr Bier and some others are delusional at best and insane at worst. If you have known killers of other animals or people they should never be allowed to run loose in the streets. I thought that most shelters had learned these killers shouldn't be up for adoption.

The man is in denial. The police witnessed the dogs attacking. ALL PIT BULLS SHOULD BE DESTROYED! They are dangerous animals. How many animals and children have to be killed or injured before they are banned????

I can remember when German Shepherds were "the dangerous dogs", then later it was Dobermans who were "dangerous and should be banned". Now it is pit bulls. There is an old book on dog breeds that describe pit bulls as an ideal family dog, loyal, gentle, and protective. At the present time any muscular short haired dog is likely to be classified as a "pit bull" regardless of actual breed. Some dogs are dangerous, and it has more to do with how they are raised and treated than with what breed they are. My neighbor once had a chihuahua who would attack anyone and anything except its owner. This dog had a history of bites, but the owner just couldn't see it as dangerous, because of its size. On the other hand, I have known pit bulls who were convinced that they were supposed to be lap dogs, and the most dangerous part of them was their wagging tails. Start blaming the owners, not the dogs per se.

I have never heard any dog owner of any breed admit their dog killed the lama or the toddler or the woman in the hallway. Except in dog fighting circles. They were all the sweetest most loving pets in the world. I've got a Jack Russell terrorist, and very few days go by when he doesn't kill or try to kill something. Moles, voles, gophers, ground squirrels, raccoons, skunks, quail, lizards, our own chickens, even a red tailed hawk. One of the reasons we rescued him was to keep the vermin, deer, turkeys etc. Out of our yard and garden.
This is some kind of record 18 hours without Here to One on this Ukiah forum.

I have had the pleasure of owning an American Staffordshire Bull Terrier for 16 years till his departure last week. I have researched these breeds. In the early 1900s pits were used in dog fights. The ones that attacked people were destroyed. they are sweet to people, but dog agressive. AmStaffs were working dogs. not fighters. When raised with love, that is all they know. This is to you Mr. C. and all others who have seething unfounded ideas. Really Sir. Bully dogs are way more gentle than the majority of dogs. They are born to serve.
