Well,It would appear to me that some people have no idea of all the work the officers do in the city of Medina. I would invite her to look at the police web site and she can see every call hour by hour day by day.

I will support Dennis Hanwell for the Mayor Position. I have seen first hand his ability to get things done, do positive things for the elderly and our kids. With his experience, education and background he would be the perfect person for the mayors job! Good Luck Dennis ! You have my vote.

I cannot believe that people living in Medina have no idea what its police force is doing. Chief Hanwell has always provided the information to the media as well as on the web site to see just what the officers and department is doing. I wonder if Joanie even knew or read about the medina police officers that pulled the elderly from the burning condos and saved 9 people from sure death, risking their lives for others. Hats off to you Chief! You have done a great job as Chief and I am confident that you will do even better as Mayor!

Wow Joanie! You do have no idea what Medina Police department does, I have to agree with Theadore, if you go to www.medinaoh.org and go to Public Information, feel free to see for yourself, what Medina's PO do every day. I think Chief Hanwell will be a great assest to the City of Medina.

I agree with Joanie! I'm sorry but I had some teenager break into my house caught him in my basement, he ran for it and headed home for his MOMMY! I ripped his shirt off of him. I called the police the "rapidly" responsed 25min later, and after talking to the teen who said "he was doing his homework", and the mother who happened to arrive home right before the cops "I was right here wih him" the cops told me I had the wrong person! Geez must need to get my eyes checked cuz I ran after the kid and saw him enter the house! The kid even had a record and CHANGED HIS CLOTHES! Oh fyi, mom had a record too! Me who has never even gotten a speeding ticket-was told I WAS A LIAR!!!! I know I don't live in the best neighborhood, but does that mean I have to let these punks pull these stunts which they are obviously learning from there parents! I asked to speak to Hanwell and he listened to my story and then never made ANY attempt on fixing it! RIDICULOUS! I guess Theodore, Sharon P, and Michael T (which by the way good job changing your name and writing mulitple posts, BUT you forgot to change your location!! HEHE! Freedom PA is a rather odd place to have 3 people from!)-are you family or shady cops that work around here? Medina Resident we have already found out that you work for the city! SO BOO HOO cry us a river so this city can float on down it! This city used to be nice to raise kids, and its gone done that hatch. OH, fyi-his son was a HUGE POT head and even dealt drugs at MHS-OPPS did I just say that! HAHA! Wonder why I don't agree with you all!

I don't know if that last part was necessary Ken but I do agree with you on some things-they are all from FREEDOM PA and they all signed Medina, Ohio-kind of strange there shouldn't be a reason you add in Medina Ohio. I don't think police are doing a great job around here. I went to that website, wasn't too much on there. I hardly every see the police out anymore doing traffic stops. I see people running the intersections and lights like nothing out here. I just moved backed to Medina from Columbus (I grew up here), We have the RUDEST DRIVERS EVER! People cutting each other off in parking lots and on the streets. I live on East Smith, I haven't seen a cop the past month and every day this week I have been working on my front yard watching people trucking by at least doing 45MPH, ITS ONLY 25MPH! I've called the police to alert them since there are many small children but they don't seem to come out and doing anything about it.I know they can't be everywhere all the time but I am work from home and am out and about alot. Oh and I also emailed them about the schools pickup and dropoff problems, Blake is so bad-some drivers will set there and wave the others in instead of taking their turn leaving me to sit and wait (they block off traffic 3 blocks in every angle from the school) same can be said for Ella Canavan. I realize that some traffic can't be avoided but next year this new school will open up and that will be an issue there! I agree with Ken on one thing this city is going downhill fast! Ripping down the historic homes and building for parking garages that aren't needed! We need better city planning, stop building schools in small areas that can't be expanded upon (what every happened to multilevel schools-know they cost more but if we are building a new school every year at least that would help control that, we need to hold these developers responsible and help us with our schools, we need the police to well start acting like police. Last time I checked the new meetup must be at Rosceo Ewing (I don't know if that is spelled right) almost 2 a week I catch 3-5 cops in there, will pass them a few times, so they are sitting there for more than a few minutes! STOP WASTING MY TAXPAYER MONEY AND START USING IT WISELY!!!!

I don't know Hanwell, but what qualifications does he have, that is the most important question? Yes he is an officer, but does he a qualified financial background, does he know about running public utilities, does he know how to make sure our money is budgeted correctly, there is a big difference from being an officer and running a city as large as Medina has gotten.
(oh and I will agree with the drivers in Medina, they are horrible!)

I would like to let all of you know that there is a good alternative to Dennis Hanwell. ME! I am running for Mayor of Medina. I have lived in the community for over 40 of my 56 years. My family moved here in the 1930's and has operated a business in the city on a continual basis since 1936. I have over 30 years of real practical business experience and a deep understanding of the realities many of you bring up in your posts. Please keep your eyes open for RICK FOR MAYOR information. Your vote is important!

Daily Horoscope for January 5

Virgo

You aren't fooling anyone - it's easy for everyone else to see that inexperienced people are unaware of their obligations, Virgo. You're grumpy about starting a familiar process from the beginning again, but don't let that get in the way of getting on with it. Sour grapes have no place in your daily dealings. Although you may 'own' a project, it's ultimately in the hands of someone else. Deal with it and then move on.
