I'm ok, just got back from Newport, Ar. 100 miles to the SE of Yellville with my mom in law, 2 inches of ice tree fell on her gas line, no elec, no heat for 16 hours. I had to walk a 1/4 mile to Her home. Brought Her back to TN until power comes on again. When I go back I have alot of cleaning up to do. Entergy told us this morning that it might be a week before it is restored. Trucks and more trucks with poles to be replaced 2000 in Jackson Co., Craigshead needs 3000 poles replaced. It looks like a war zone with ice. thx for the prayers.

Ty for letting me know u r ok. This is a terrible thing to happen to people. I hope this time the power companies will make plans to bury the lines. The new neighborhoods all the lines r underground. I shall keep all the families in my prayers.

I am glad your family is ok wisconsin. People worry about the cost of burying the line but what if our temps were below zero. More people would have died. I shall continue to keep all of u in my prayers and thoughts.

Our power just got hooked back up. We were without
it for 7 days. We were lucky......no house or vehicle damage. We used kerosene lanterns and a
kerosene cook stove to get by. Had the wood stove for heat. Went into town a couple of times to get water. We couldn't even get to the main road for 4 days.

The night after the ice storm we laid in bed and
we could hear the trees snapping like rifle shots.

We have a regular phone that worked. Our cordless
didn't work. So at least we could call out.

I'm so glad to have my electric back!

I am just now hearing about those that died in this ice storm. I guess I will be tilting at a new windmill.....the electric lines need to go underground. We cant accept their excuses anymore. A new crusade begins.

I'd be more than shocked if they put the lines
underground. They don't want to pay for it.
This area still is way behind a lot of more modern
things anyway. It's like living the Andy Griffith
show.

Back from Newport again. Worked for 4 days near and on Mom's place. Entertained thoughts of going to Bull Shoals to help with clean up but I am dog tired and also had to go back home to care for my animals here at the farm. Power poles here are snapped like matchsticks, some still w/o power.
Convoys of Entergy trucks on the roads and even National Guard vehicles loaded on trains shipping them to SE Missouri and Ky. Very surreal.
