Couple hit, killed by auto; driver charged with DUI

A 27-year-old Caseyville man was charged Tuesday in the deaths of a Granite City couple and their unborn daughter after police said he was driving under the influence and hit them with his car.
Mary Drayton, 18, and Jerimiah Phelps, 30, were killed as they walked to a friend's house about 9:30 p.m. Monday night in the 3100 block of Missouri Avenue, roughly half a mile south of Pontoon Road in Granite City, Police Maj. Jeff Connor said.
Shaun Alan Myers, 27, of 8890 Botanical Ave. in Caseyville, was charged Tuesday with four counts of aggravated driving under the influence, two counts of reckless homicide, one count of reckless homicide of an unborn child and one count of leaving the scene of an accident. Read more
