It's too bad the taxpayers have pay for all these lawsuits. I heard this is the second time the Chief and his staff got sued for millions of dollars with more to come. It just shows that he's doing something wrong. I heard most of the good cops left to other police departments because of the corruption.
No juty in the world would hand out ten million dollars unless there was something seriously wrong over there.
I thinks it's time they got a new chief!!

The chief has nothing to do with this. However; if an indepndant jury heard both sides of the story and they awarded money to the cops, you should wonder!

Just look it up anywhere. There's many articles on the internet and most court documents are public information.

I heard a lot of the cops that left were a bunch of losers. From what i've heard, i just wonder how a racist and lazy white cop claimed discrimination and won!

Thank you "SG Resident" for that clarification. I was not sure if the City paid or insurance. In any event that is a great deal of money and I tend to agree with the summary of "Concerned" that there would tend to be some merit to the lawsuit, as I am sure the City would have the resources to vigorously defend such allegations.

Most of what I see on this post is claptrap.
Has anyone been to a South Gate Council meeting since our Community got rid of those creeps in 2002? You can see what the current City Council is doing to get the 24 million that was stolen back into the City.
Little Ricky Lopez was as crazy as they cme and for people who stand up for him means they are part of the regime we threw out or they are just plain stupid. Our Police Chief Todd is one of the best around just talk to his staff and the other Police mostly Latino's. I find it difficult to believe people who haven't come to City Council on a regular basis and stay to the end to know what they are talking about. We have a few who come for 1/2 hour with a hateful agenda but these are very few. Most South Gate residents love our current City Council and definately our current Police Dept.

Our Current City Council (mostly Latino) since this seems to matter have recovered at least 6 million from prepaid lawyers and other lawsuits stemming from the old regime 2002. The court for the 10 mil. couldn't bring up anything about South Gate corruption during the time of these 4 guys supposed discrimination. Most of the stuff here seems like it is generated from the 4 disgruntled policemen and Albert Robles attorneys. This doesn't make for good communication when you don't know who is writing. People are too vulnerable to even more corruption by the web.

They are fighting it. As the other poster posted, there were things that the Judge did not allow that may change the outcome of the awards. Matter of fact, from what I hear, it's mostly BS.

Does anyone know where ex-chief Rick Lopez went to?
I do; after reading the LA Times article, I did some research and found him at Santa Ana Unified School Police. It turns out that he is friends with the current school police chief, Jim Miyashiro, who has cost the district in Sexual Harassment law suits,
I guess he went from one corrupt dept. to another. He should get along well with his new boss, see how long before the department gets it.

Send him and his commanding officer to us,
we will use him as a shield and teach him a thing or two about integrity. I am from the O.C,
I know how that department is!

The current chief is the laughing stock amongst his peers and other Chiefs in California. The Officers won an additional 50k each when the Judge determined that their Peace Officer Bill of Fights were violated. This was no confused jury. The city was also denied a motion for a new trial. Many of you are in denial about the Police department, yes some Officers are good like the four Officers that sued but many there are still corrupt. I bet those guys are laughing all the way to the bank!>>

You always believe everything you read? Those cops are GOOD cops? Those guys were full of crap and they know it. South Gate has one of the best departments in Southern California. Obviously, you have an axe to grind. The DECENT people in the community think they're doing a bang up job. The bad guys don't like them. Based on your comments, I assume you're one of the latter.

The City of South Gate Police Department is full of liars, racist and bullies. That Department needs to be under federal review.
