Recall the current Council Members. Fire the most corrupt police Chief in California and stop the bleeding. We've been told that the tax payers are paying out over $100,000 a month, in interest to law suits they have lost due to the Chief's corruption and cronnies...... We are asking for 60 minutes or 20/20 to come in and expose the State's most corrupt City.

Evan..... You are so right but what I have seen the last 10 years is that if you remove all the corrupt officials in South Gate, another less then honorable will take his/her place...60 minutes or 20/20 should take a close look...but then there is Lynwood, Bell, Maywood, Downey ...What do these towns have in common...

Uh, corrupt? And what would lead you to believe he is corrupt? Corupt is Baca taking kickbacks or getting SOME type of favor for catering to that skank Paris. THAT'S corrupt. South Gate's chief does an excellent job and trhe city is back on track. You have no idea what you're talking about. "We've been told..." By who have you been told. Name your sources or shut up. I hope they don't get anything. I heard those 4 cops were never associated or "friendly" with Rick Lopez.

That police department and city has a LONG history of "good 'ol boy" syndrome and their current Chief and Capt. W.R. aren't innocent. I think you will find that there are all kinds of quid pro quo going on. Not to worry though, from what I understand a big suprise will be coming soon from the feds. Bye bye Chief R.T. Stand by! Can you spell RICO ??? Also, whoever said that those four cops that won the suit weren't supportive of the former latino chief, you are right! They just found an opportunity to make some $$$$$

I'm sure ur right about Baca and I'm sure he'll get his day to answer questions as will Chief RT and Capt. WR. Also, I don't need sources...I know first hand! It's about time!

Lived here for over 30 years. I know the Chief quite well personally as well as your "Capt WR." I've been heavily involved in the City Government for many years and can say without reservation that any problems you associte with the police department and the Chief are entirely groundless. Everything is running well, the crooks are gone. Sure, there will always be some critics but we could sure do a whole lot worse and not much better given the area. Even Downey is going to Hell. At least South Gate kids don't riot. watchman wrote: <quoted text> I don't think you know South Gate very well. Besides making some remarks out of left field, can you back this up with some statistics. Something solid and NOT hearsay. And from where do you hear this? People inside or disgruntled angry former employees or a rumor mill? Please enlighten me so I can respond intelligently. Also, he hasn't been the Chief for many many years. Maybe four? He came in when Lopez was ousted from power along with his henchmen. watchman wrote: <quoted text> I don't think you know South Gate very well. The "good ol boy thing" has been around forever. Let's face it, if it comes down to favoring a friend or backer, versus an unknown, whu are YOU gonna go with? It's human nature. We all take care of our own. Sometimes, however, those that we THINK are friends are the first ones to stab us in the heart if it would benefit them. Okay, not statistics. Those are numbers and someone's job performance is hard to quantify. What about facts? Give us something. Militant wrote: <quoted text> No one is going to give statistics.
