I graduated with Brian and think its great he wants to get involved and help fix some of the problems within the govt that affects us here. He was a smart kid in high school and a nice guy. I think he will do a great job.

I'm not from here, I don't know this candidate. Is he married, any children? Does he live here in Lowville? I looked on his web page, but nothing is mentioned about him with a family, only that he lived in NYC for 9 years. Any info?

His Bio is on the website. Moved back to Lowville, Bio says he has big family, including eleven nieces and nephews.

According to another blog, Brian was married to a Jamaican man in a ceremony in California within the last couple of years. He has not worked full time as a lawyer since being laid off by a firm in NYC where he was an associate for many years. His spouse lives in Chicago while going to acting school. Brian lives in NYC other than the time he comes to Lowville to campaign. This information is not substantiated, but I've seen some of this reported on more than one site.

who cares if a candidate is married or has children? does that make them a better person than someone else, not in my book. i've known Brian since highschool and he's got my vote. Good luck Brian, i'm looking forward to how this goes for you.

I was called about his candidacy by a pollster who spoke about him being openly gay. I was asked if that made a difference. I could care less. But he will not get the seat he seeks. He is too damn liberal. We don't need more like him.

Anonymous is right! Anyone who thinks Brian McGrath is a political outsider should talk to the residents of the luxury condominium in Manhattan where, as Board President for 3 1/2 years he is best known for his abuse of power, abuse of employees, lack of transparancy, and dictatorship! This is a man who sent out a letter to all residents of the building threatening to fine anyone who disparaged him $500! I don't have a problem with his sexuality, marital status or anything personal, but I do have a problem with the dishonesty. If he is claiming to live in the North Country, then why is he still on the Condo Board of his building?

I need to know a lot more about his dealings while he was in NYC before I decide if he has our best interests at heart. He hasn't lived here in a very long time...does he even know our concerns or what we struggle with on a daily basis as residents? If NYLights is correct in their claims, then he already sounds like someone who I don't want representing me or my family. We certainly don't need anymore liberal representation and we certainly don't need any more dishonest representation. I'll be checking up on Brian McGrath....as well as anyone else who throws their hat in the ring.

Dear Lowvillegirl, Wish there had been MORE people like you living in the luxury condo that Brian McGrath has ran for so long. I would attach my name to my blog posts, but like most people who live or lived at The Link at 310 West 52nd Street NY, are terrified of his retaliatory ways, and believe me they can be severe. As Board President, he presided over a brand-new building with multi-million-dollar apartments that had numerous floods. Brian didn't care about these displaced residents or any other problems other than ones that affected him and his spouse. Staff members were abused and bullied. He hand picked a condo lawyer, who basically functioned as his own personal lawyer with the condo's funds. To this day he keeps the residents from seeing the billing from this lawyer even though it has run into the hundreds of thousands. This has all gone on while he himself was out of work (let go by his law firm). When he ran for office, he said the same thing he is saying now that he was an "outsider" to politics. He was charming and seemed trustworthy, but don't let this man fool you.

homo too wrote: I like him. He is great. I will vote for him. I understand where he is coming from. I like New York City too. I am for gay marriage like he is. See and it is people like you who don't do your homework and don't really look at a candidates resume before you vote them into office. You understand where he is coming from? Im not sure what that statement means. You like New York City? Well, I do too, but what does that have to do with Mr. McGrath's ability to be in political office. I am a proponent of gay rights, but that does not mean I will vote for a candidate just because we agree on one issue. I want to know what he will do about our TAX situation and about our UNEMPLOYMENT issues. THAT IS WHAT VOTERS IN THIS AREA SHOULD BE CONCERNED ABOUT! I hope that we look at ALL of the information we can about anyone who is running for office before we form opinions and make snap judegements. Have we all gotten so lazy and indifferent to do just that? I HOPE NOT!
