His first mistake was going to a movie theater. His second mistake was paying to see Titanic?!

It was certainly an over the top to hit the kid but I do understand why he did. It's always worse when the noise is behind you instead of in front of you at a movie theater. I have gotten up at times and moved if their were other seat to move to. I have gone to see the manager but that certainly has a person missing part of the movie. I have also asked for my money back and then gone to the movie on another day.
It's luck of the draw when going to a movie but most times people haven't made that much noise.
Another issue, some kid kicking the seat or some grown man putting his feet on the seat in front of him and then moving about and shaking the whole row.
Some people are just impolite, no matter where they are.

Why didn't the man take his girlfriend and move?

When I go to a movie and PAY good $- I want to hear what's going on and not have people talking and laughing anywhere in the theater.
Boys are going to horse around and tease. After all, it wasn't their money that got them into the movie. They just want to have fun.
The man could have done something else - like move,
The kid got what he deserved - even if it was illegal. I hope he learned something from it.
I disagree. While I think that the kid should NOT have been acting like an azz---he was STILL 10-years old. Period. It was up to the adult to remain IN CONTROL---of himself.

There are always two sides to every story. Just because the man says the boys were being loud, throwing popcorn, and running around, doesn't make it so.

In fact, his having punched a 10 year old in the face does a lot of damage to his credibility.

You're right, we shouldn't, but sometimes it's an effort not to.
I usually go late or wait until DVDs come out.
Do ushers even work the aisles anymore?

It's not their fault. Place the blame where it belongs. Parents that are too lazy to teach a child proper manners.

Hipcheck them into a table or washing machine. Be subtle about it, then be sincerely apologetic.

I try to see most of the good films, and some not so good...
Find going to early afternoon shows leaves me without interruption from kids, and noisy adults.

I will generally quickly move whenever I encounter either, before I get pissed off and have the film semi ruined for me.

Bottom one though, I've gotta manage my own emotions before they put me in a tough situation.
Namely I'm not gonna smack some kid, or confront some thug... Not in a movie theater.
