Historic status sought for more than two dozen Overland Park ranch homes

In an effort to block construction of a four-story condominium near her neighborhood, Linda Hanson may be making history.
A portion of her north Overland Park subdivision -- which mainly consists of 1950s ranch houses -- is a step closer to becoming a historic district.
A survey conducted by Sally Schwenk Associates, Inc. shows that more than two dozen homes in the Broadmoor and Southmoor neighborhoods qualify to become a historic district. The results were submitted to the Kansas State Historic Preservation Office this week for approval. Read more
