Pessimism for African-Americans in new survey extends to KC

blacks are way better off each and every day in this country. IMO.

i can defintely see why so many black folks are down on their futures. We attend the worst schools, have the least homes with fathers, and it appears that the government has given us the middle finger with their apathy. Until we can get officals in office who truthfully care about our commmunity blacks will not see reason for hope.

Why don't you compare the income levels of blacks now with the income levels of blacks 8 years ago? Look at it as a percentage as compared to whites.

Reverse racism is mainly a myth. Whites suffer--have always suffered--from CLASS OPPRESSIONA and SEXISM. But when whites, who are racially dominant, begin complaining about "reverse racism" they're expressing anxiety over their perceived loss of white privilege...in short, they're expressing white racism.
You may legitimately legitimately complain about class oppression if you're not rich, or gender or oppression if you're not male.
As a white person you cannot honestly and intelligently complain about racial oppression.
It simply doesn't exist for you in REALITY.

good luck with this one chief. no, low income people need to do something else, something our own forefathers did, pick themselves up by their boot straps and get to friggin work. attending school regularly might also help...don't you think?

Low income people have been trying this for centuries and it hasn't worked. There are more homeless people now than there has been since the Depression. More people losing their homes than since the Depression. No! The poor must organize and fight!
Dr. King tried to organized a Poor Peoples Movement to effectuate revolutionary change by NONVIOLENT means. This change must happen. By nonvolent means if possible, by other means if necessary.

Sorry, fella. Reverse racism DOES NOT exist..unless you're speaking simply of personal animosities. I'm speaking of institutionalized inequalities favoring whites over others, and structural advantages favoring whites over others.
I'm speaking about racial inequalities in the economy, educational system and judicial system.
All these are designed in favor of whites. Extensive research as well as anecdotal observation has repeatedly shown this. And whites who claim different are either dishonest or detached from reality.

When people want to talk about anti-white racism, they use various ways to do so. English speaking people will talk about either "anti-white racism" or "reverse racism". They have actually a third way which is not much used: albophobia, a scientific word about the irrationnal fear toward white people. it is made from the latin root Albus (white) and the greek root Phobos (fear) but it is seldom if ever used. you might take into account a fourth way, when anti-white is spelled antiwhite.

Thus far, nadx has shown no capacity for intellectual debate, and no social or theoretical knowledge whatsoever.
White people are NOT racially oppressed, nor have I seen any plausible evidence to prove that they are. Examine how power, wealth and privilege are structure in American society where race is concerned, and it become clear that America is still a land of white privilege.
Now if whites want to claim they're victims of CLASS opppression, they're right. If they want to claim that they're victims of gender or patriarchal oppression, they're right--at least white women can claim this.
But any white person who claims he/she is oppressed AS A WHITE PERSON, is also delusional or dishonest.
In fact, one of the marks of an honest, intelligent and progressive white person is that he or she fights sexism and class oppression while also rejecting white privilege.
But such whites are not nearly as numerous as they should be.
