What a pathetic joke this is.'We had to take them down now' because they were an 'imminent threat' say authorities. This is ridiculous. These were nothing more than inept morons. Just look at them. Isolated Christian zeolots. Actually believing they could start a revolution. Contacting other 'militias' outside their circle, almost as if they actually wanted to be turned in. Frantically calling these same people when the cops were at the door as if these people were really their friends. The only thing these morons would have accomplished in trying to pull off an attack would be to blow themselves up in the process. I'll agree they're mental morons who should be uthenized, put out of their misery, but claiming that the Republic was saved by their arrest. Ridiculous.
Could these guys pull off a coup? No.
Could they kill a cop who answered a 911 call for them? Yes.
Could they set off an explosive and kill cops families at a funeral? Yes.
Could they do worse? Yes.

Timothy McVeigh wasn't a particularly imposing threat. Eric Rudolph was a lone operator.

Terrorism is terrorism, whether it is by a Islamic fanatic, a militia nutjob or the radical Weather Underground.

Law enforcement needs to act on the stated intent of the suspect, as underestimating thier ability to carry out that intent can have serious consequences, as noted in the examples above.

Yes....A dozen hillbillies get caught being stupid and suddenly the American government is exactly the same as the Nazi propaganda machine. Did you hear that the government is hiding aliens from us too, m-a-a-a-a-n???

If you have knowledge that a crime is being planned you should contact the authorities immediately.

When I searched, I couldn't find any Black secession movements in Atlanta, so I am assuming they are small and low profile. The only current secession talk I could find in Atlanta was the move being discussed by the northern white suburbs to secede from Atlanta and the southern poorer black suburbs. And I am assuming you are OK with that.

It's not illegal to TALK about secession - heck, the Governor of Texas muses about it, and Sarah Palin's husband was part of an Alaskan secession movement, so gosh darn it you know that's OK.

Its also not illegal to have guns. Lots of guns. Assault weapon guns. Armor piercing round firing guns. But I know you are OK with that.

But it is illegal to plan to commit murder to further your secession cause. Even though you seem OK with that.

So if this group of "demons" exists, and you know they are going to commit an act of violence, please help federal law enforcement to thier job and give them a call.

I'd be amazed had you not heard this.
It's been in the news for quite some time. Iraqi Christians are being run out of their homes, being killed for their Christian beliefs. I've read it in print as well as the news, including 60 Minutes. They did an initial article on it and then a follow-up. Might not hurt you to investigate this for yourself.
Try Google and key in "Iraqi Christian Persecution" and see for yourself what is and has been going on.
If you are learning this for the first time then it is a strange world in which we live in where people are quick to offer opinions without first learning the facts. That's nothing new now, is it.
I've heard about it. From the same sources I heard about the militia. That's my point: you do not have first-hand experience with either, yet you want us to believe the stories you agree with, and treat everything else as a conspiracy or cover-up...even though they come from the same sources.

Of course, he might simply have made enough money.

Why is the media referring to these guys as militia and not terrorists. Or is it just so ingrained in our American minds that a Christian cannot be a terrorist? We should not be surprised about this kind of thing. When the Palin's of the world rally the country around words like "palling around with terrorists" and "government death panels" we shouldn't be surprised at the resulting hate.
Probably because the last upswing of these kinds of groups was during the 90's, before we popularized the term "terrorist" to identify an uncertain enemy. The 90's term for folks who spent a lot of time out in the woods training in the use of firearms and positing a general mistrust of the government that in some cases led to actual violence was militia (a name they gave themselves, I believe--thinking that they were the "well-regulated militia" that the Constitution speaks of).

Personally, I found it jarring when Bill Ayers was being labelled a "domestic terrorist," since the 70's term was "radical." Times change.

Yup--I have known a few clinical nut-cases who brought down the feds by hitting send after they let their stream of consciousness run against the President (regardless of administration). It didn't matter that the individuals in question couldn't organize their way out of a wet paper bag--those folks just don't have a sense of humor about these things.

Michigan's UP has been talking secession from the lower peninsula for decades.

No it did not, but thanks to the drive by media and sence Obama even the good dems are tuning int to Fox with its rateings higher than all of your left wing marxist pprogressive drive by media combined.
Hows that working out for you even Obama has to target Fox and Glenn Beck and Rush trying to lie his way out. Not doing so good for mid terms this year 2010 and for 2012.
Now tell me more about the bill ayers and J wright and safe school czar marxist radicals. You might une in to Glenn Beck at 5 PM to see why your slave master is wetting his bed at night. You will also knowing your mask is off. Go ahead and now attack Becka nd free speech we expect it and are ready for you. So is gitmo with a nice sunny cell.
Wow.....I've been told you tea-types weren't educated enough to write in complete sentences or complete a coherent thought, and this post just proved that in spades. You would be able to comvince more people that you might have something worth hearing if someone reading your posts could make any sense out of your ranting.
Personally, I wouldn't "une in" to Beck to find out who's pitching for the Reds, let alone what's going on in the world...folks, he and his ilk are entertainers, not newsmen! All they care about in the end are ratings and dollars, not facts and what's good for the entire country. Any extremist, right or left, isn't worth wasting time on; if you truly love your country, get educated, vote, and leave the hate-filled fact-deficient ranting to the wingnuts who get paid for it.

Amen, well said!
Yesterday was the 15th anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing, by the way. McVeigh was pretty much a loner, but his actions caused horrible damage and loss of life--including innocent babes (full disclosure on this: a friend in OK lost a grandbaby to this monster, so I'm not exactly neutral here.)This so-called "Christian" bunch of gun-toting wingnuts had an advantage he didn't--more people. Imagine if they'd actually been able to pull their little plan off, peeps! We'd all be wringing our hands and crying about who in the law enforcement field dropped the ball and let it happen, right?
Well......law enforcement did stop a plan that, while bone-jarringly stupid, was plausible. Do they get any credit? To read these posts, I guess not. Must be more fun to watch the blood & guts on TV and complain that to realize that their job is to act in their own protection and the protection of society at large---which means you and me.

To be fair, truth has been ranting in illiterate fashion since before there was a tea party. We're not entirely certain what he is.
