Wind farms are terrible for the environment and kill millions of cute little birds. We need to start drilling for clean burning oil instead of slaughetering millions of birds.

Please tell me oh noble one, how is a windmill powered by the wind that blows either way, more harmful for the environment, than burning oil we don't need to burn ?

Wind farms kill birds and even the bats that the environment needs. We need to fight these life killing wind farms the socialists are trying to jam through and start doing the responsible thing and drill for offshore oil. Only oil drilling can lower gas prices and save birds!

Just how many birds are we talking about ?
I still fail to see your logic, we need to get away from our dependency on oil. Everyday the wind blows, the sun shines, and the tides roll, we would be moronically stupid if we didn't harness these free energy sources.
I find it hard to believe that the birds just can't learn to fly around them, I mean deer have learned that men in camo carrying guns aren't their friends......

Is it me, or are way too many people just falling for whatever self-serving pablum that these special interest groups are feeding the public.

Isn't anybody capable of thinking for themselves anymore, or have we reduced our national discourse to shouting the daily talking points we have been fed at each other while turning a deaf ear to the careful consideration of opposing points of view?

I have no data to back this up, but common sense suggests the oil industry has killed far more birds in the last 20 years that the wind eneregy industry. I would love to hear actual figures from a non-biased source though.

Yea me too, I would love to hear a figure for how many stupid birds have died so far! I am guessing that Exxon's Valdez killed more birds in a week then every windmill in the country has in the past year.
I just asked Google the question and here is what I found:

Man-made structure/technology

Associated bird deaths per year (U.S.)

Feral and domestic cats

Hundreds of millions [source: AWEA]

Power lines

130 million -- 174 million [source: AWEA]

Windows (residential and commercial)

100 million -- 1 billion [source: TreeHugger]

Pesticides

70 million [source: AWEA]

Automobiles

60 million -- 80 million [source: AWEA]

Lighted communication towers

40 million -- 50 million [source: AWEA]

Wind turbines

10,000 -- 40,000 [source: ABC]
The rest of the article was pretty interesting as well: http://science.howstuffworks.com/wind-turbine...
