Tim Kaine has been everything he was thought to be, a coward, uniformed, oppurtunist, flip-flopper and more. Not to say Kilgore would have been any better. Where are the real leaders in the state who actually care about it's citizens?

I wonder why they never raise the cigarette tax? Ohh, that's right, Phillip Morris is in Richmond and that's means they're in the politicians pocket. We have one of the lowest cig taxes in the U.S. Even NC has a higher tax than us. They should raise the cigarette tax before they start levying new taxes/fees and increasing old taxes.

You can't cut into your own argument. The "cig tax" is an old tax, which you advocated raising. However, this tax does not hit everyone fairly, ans not all Virginians smoke. HOwever, all Virginias AND out-of-staters travel on Virginia's roads, bridges, and interstates. Thus, increasing the gas tax makes the most sense.

The Governor and the GA should realize their stupid mistake instead of trying to "spin" this sow's ear into a silk purse. Raise the gas tax a few cents, and end the stupid car-tax rebate that does nothing but siphon much-needed state revenue ($950 million) and gives it back to localities. What a stupid idea THAT was...oh yeah...it was a Republican idea, just like the transportation quagmire this current crop of Republicants has created.

Oh yea! Tax you, tax the tree but don't tax me. I guess you must be something special thinking you should not have to pay your share of taxes? If cigarette taxes are raised maybe smokers should have preference on the roads? HOV lanes, free tolls etc.

Perhaps the Commomwealth needs to get spending under control. Why does spending increase at double or triple the rate of inflation every year? Do our salaries increase that much? As for getting rid of the car tax, that was the only decent thing any of our governors has done in the past 20 years.
