ask the public what would they rather see be gone, ice labs or pakalolo patches? i guarantee, if not all, most would say ice labs. pakalolo smokers are like cigarette smokers, they'll pay what ever to get it, just like gas... it don't matter, tough times are here and smokers stay mellow thru it. they don't lose it and beat the mailman, or the dog over it...

Hey Drinker, this is getting complicated. Gotta have my buddy blow into my Drink-o-meter to start my car, dodge flying cops buzzing my convertible, and try not to use ice heads for speed bumps.

Geez. Maybe just stay home and take up heroin.

Ummm... What about Bruce Lee? I am not against you at all, just making a point. People die from all kinds of innocuous things. There is risk in everything. But I do support a persons right to freedom to chooce their risks and to be held personally responsible for those choices.

These people will never legalize Pakalolo, hell they just made it illegal to smoke outside.

Silly politicians...

We are talking proactivity here...I so many people have waited so many years to see the world example leadership that we are seeing in Hawaii. So many people have prayed for so many changes from foot patrols like the incredible proactive foot patrols in district 6 Waikiki to what this article is saying. These vice officers are so incredible...Some people have family that keep them from getting into crime and negativity, some people have friends that keep them from making bad choices and going the wrong way. But for those that do not thank God for vice and law enforcement that proactive the state with a desire it appears to not only get crime off the streets but turn people lives around. Alot of people that were once involved in crime that have been arrested will testify to anyone that if not for the officer busting them they would of never of changed their lives. I am not religious but I see law enforcement for so much more than a badge and a gun but people that help some people find their way in life.
Obviously you're smoking too much of something!

Not only that, growing pakalolo helps to reduce our carbon footprint!

Look at the reason prohibition was repealed. Alcohol was being used by every economic, racial and political strata in our country. It was impossible to maintain prohibition when the culture of our society, then and now accepts alcohol.(Even as our local politicians get arrested for DUI on a regular basis)

No, the only way for Pot to become legal, is for your mom and dad to light up a doobie on a daily basis and risk losing their jobs and social standing in the community. Their pastor needs to smoke doobies in the open just like the religious leaders drank alcohol openly as prohibition was being repealed.

Until Pot is as acceptable culturally as was alcohol, you can expect to go to jail as you should.

Furthermore, "We" collectively enabled our politicians to be politically correct in banning smoking of a legal substance such as tobacco in public places. Do you actually think you can legalize a substance that has to be "Smoked" when a legal substance like cigarettes are being banned?!

You lose!

I don't smoke pot and haven't in several decades, but this "war on drugs" approach to marijuana is stupid and counter-productive. I prefer wine or a good beer at the end of the day. My friend prefers to smoke some pot at the end of his. So what?

Mellow out, folks.

Speaking of "mellow," I wish all those folks smoking ice would instead smoke themselves some pot and get lazy instead of tweaking on ice, staying up for days, yelling at their partners and kids, and getting violent. Let them smoke and fall asleep. The world will be a better place.

We should make an effort to avoid the militarization of the police. It leads to increased alienation between the community and the police. There is a temptation towards gadgets and gear that is a siren call to come over to the Dark Side. We should not feed that desire. The police and the prosecutors should not directly benefit from property seizures.

And those damn helicopters should be used for rescue operations and not to harass the neighbors.

YOU ALREADY HAVE THE FUNDS TO DEAL WITH THE POT ON THE BIG ISLAND. FIRST YOU AS THE TAXPAYERS FUND THE CORRUPT POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THEN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT IN TURN HAS IT'S HAND GREASED BY THE POT GROWER'S. SUBSEQUENTLY, THE POT GROWER'S MAKE MILLION AND KICKBACK A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF THAT PROFIT TO THE CORRUPT POLICE DEPARTMENT. LUCKY YOU LIVE HAWAII!

You obviously don't have the facts otherwise everyone involved would be in jail.

One other thing is obvious, you should not post when you are stoned!

Why stop worrying about the Pot issue, and deal with the humongous Crystal Meth problem that has overcome the islands, and in turn has increased the crime rate dramatically! Now instead of everyone being all stoned and mellow, they're all hyped up and want to kill people!

If Hawaii is hungry for tourist dollars, people need to open their minds a bit (there's plenty of booze in those umbrella drinks), and cater one area where tourists and locals can interact and smoke weed. It's like going to the cognac region of France, or a tour of Ireland's pubs. What are they doing? Getting blasted. Folks in a well patrolled area (cops allowing but watching for violent-type disrupters)designated for the Pakalolo/tourist, kinda like a hippie luau..would bring LOTS of tourist dollars. Hell, I'm getting ready to go to Kona, but I doubt I'm going to taste that fine bright gold stuff we used to see 20-30 years ago..now that us "baby-boomers" want to travel and party at this juncture of our life, what harm could setting up a "pakalolo zone" do? Tourist dollars would abound..now that I'm not allowed to eat pork anymore, I'm not going to a luau, but would sure know how to get hungry!

Everyone knows that drugs are bad.
It makes me wonder why people stat in the first place.
Just like rat poison. Everyone knows it is bad and nobody smokes the stuff.
The good thing about the helicopter flights is that it goes after the dealers/growers and not the users who are a little more innocent and are not profiting from this activity.
If drugs were so bad for us why are pharmaceutical companies making billions of dollars off of us. Marijuana which could be used instead of anti-depressants and sleep medications could save users millions of dollars but of course the pharmaceutical companies would fight the legalization because it'll take money out of their pockets and congress would support them.
