Lawmakers Prepare To Battle Internet Sweepstakes Industry

Sweepsteak games are no differant than , Pepsi, coke or McDonalds food chain. The churches pays no taxes and rule our laws in NC. The lottery, whats that?? You got a better chance going to the moon than winning. Law makers need to let the people do what they want to with money. They need to start treating other americans like the Indians in Cherokee, NC

I fEEL lIKE pEOPLES FREEDOM IN NC HAS COMPLETELY DIMINISHED. THEY ARE TOLD WHERE AND WHEN THEY CAN SMOKE WHEN THEY CAN TALK ON THEIR CELL PHONES NOW THIS. I THINK A PERSON SHOULD BE ABLE TO SPEND HIS HARD EARNED MONEY AS HE SEES FIT. IF HE DECIDES TO USE IT PLAYING GAMES ITS HIS MONEY. AS FAR AS THESE PEOPLE THAT ARE AGAINST THE GAMES THERE IS NOBODY MAKING THEN GO IN THESES PLACES AND SPEND THEIR MONEY. IF YOUR AGAINST IT STAY OUT.IT NO DIFFERENT THAN BINGO WHICH GIVES CASH POTS AWAY OR THE SWEEPSTAKES THAT BURGER KING MCDONALDS OR ANY OTHER PLACE HAS. AND THE CHANCES OF WINNING HERE IS ALOT GREATER THAN THE NC EDUCATION LOTTERY. NOW YOU TELL ME WHICH IS A BIGGER GAMBLE. WHAT PEOPLE SHOULD DO IS MIND THEIR OWN BUSINESS,

It appears to me that some of the law makers like Melinie Goodwin is using her power to influnce the church vote and not think about the jobs and the revenue these cafe's are bringing into the states fund. The lottery took 885 million from theses poor people that she keeps talking about, but I guess that is ok, just another Demo-God in Raleigh. Her election and power is her only concern. I go to several of these places and it has good working people in them that enjoy themselves. NC is run by the churches who don't pay taxes and they should have to with a voice as strong as the church. Look at it this way, I give the church $100 , I'm a good man. I play the Internet sweepsteaks and I am bad...But the moral to the story is...I am still out of the $100 . Mrs Goodwin , work on imigration and welfare, it needs more attention than your name in headlines??

I think the USA or NC is getting more like Russia everyday. We the people have no rights to anything unless it helps the Demo -gods get reelected. Vote against ever Legislator you get a chance to. The church don't want to pay taxes, just run the government. Its not fair. I work and should be able to spend my money as I want to.It find that people play the Lottery, I don't but that should be your choice, not Melanie Goodwin or RAP or any of the Powerful legislature members

Sure does seem like the State of NC makes it convenient to accept the Lottery as non-gambling when in fact it nothing more than that very thing. The question I pose is why then would the State of NC place focus on their lottery point of sales in some of these locations where the internet sweepstakes are accessible? Because they are looking for those individuals who are "gamblers"...hoping to generate more Lottery sales and more scratch off sales. The State of NC controls the alcohol, tobacoo, and now they want to monopolize their legal game of chance, the lottery. Well, if they truly took the time and effort to research these organizations, they would find that they pay income tax and 1099 the winners for anything above $599. Furthermore, the games are "games of chance." I think it is ridiculous. It's nothing but the kettle calling the pot black.

I think Melanie Goodwin is crazy. She needs to mind her own business. People work for their money and they can spend it any way they want. She or no one else can tell you how to spend your own money. If people want to go to an internet cafe and take a chance to win some money than that is their choice not her's. It is not different that the lottery, bingo, drink caps. These internet cafe's are paying their taxes on this and there is nothing wrong with it. I bet taxes are paid in these bingo polars. Melanie mind your own business. This is giving people jobs also. Everyone needs a job and there are not many out there. This would at least give 3-5 people a job. Butt out Melanie. I see no problem with us playing these games as I earn my money and I have ALREADY paid my taxes on these funds. I enjoying coming to the internet places and meeting new friends and playing with them. I see NO difference in playing these games and the local BINGO games as I know they are not all LEGAL.

Its time for the NC residents to take a stand! Its our money, our state and most of all our right of Freedom and happiness! Lets make a stand!

Vote out Rapp and Goodwin , they are taking away our right to play the sweepsteaks games. They are saying that low income people are spending to much money??? If they are , where is the money coming from, I don't see any welfare people where I play. Whatever happened to that part of our National Anthem that states "land of the free" We are only free to do whatever the State says we can. When it comes to anything that remotely resembles gambling, the state wants to control it.

I feel that internet games should stay, I don't see where it's a problem, if people would like to spend their money on the games, then I'm all for it. I really dok find it to be a relaxing diversion for myself and my husband and we're very diappointed that the games are being taken away from High Point, NC

what has happened to the USA being s free country? The goverment has got to have its hands in every part of our life. We work.....we pay taxes.....leave us alone let us do what we want with what money you you allow us to keep. The internet cafe allows people a safe enviroment to meet new people and relax. If you think its all about gambling then what about bingo and the lottery it's allowed and it's all the same. What will happen next, will you come into my home and tell me not to snore? Real crimes are being committed and you're worried about a coffee shop. Sounds like a bunch of nonsense and waste of time to me.

I have made so many friends in these shops. This is a place where friends can get together, meet new friends and talk and laugh. We need more of this. With so much bad in the world that we cannot control, let us get some enjoyment out of life. No one will ever kill someone driving drunk after playing in these shops. WE have worked all of our life and this should be our choice nif we play.

i see these place are just like casino, i have played in them and they are a rip off and you are gambling any way you look at it ,and you get cash just like a cansino...they won't let you have the 8 liner's which u get gift cards.. but this is the biggist rip off i have seen in florida..these need to be takin out for sure take older peoples money is all
