Well not taking a plea may be just what the doctor ordered then he will have thrown his chance at a lighter sentence away and hopefully the jury will nail him hard.

Did you read post #21 on the thread "Please don't forget Christopher Barrios on March 8th." This is more recent news about Dale's case. The Barrios family deserves a verdict and Dale also deserves a verdict. He has already been convicted, without a trial on Topix. If the DA has enough evidence to keep him in jail for over a year, why don't they try him and have a jury find him guilty.

why does Dale DESERVE ANYTHING?? Christopher Barrios deserved to live, but of course he didn't have that chance, Christopher's family deserved to know what happen to Christopher but because of Dale lying the agony lasted a week. Dale deserves what he is getting.

I think the the mental retardation thing is a big put on. The paper said that Dale scored ten points under the limit. Ok, in that case if he only scored ten points under, what does the points that he DID score tell? See prosecuters and lawmakers don't think about the logic of it. Yes he may be "mental" but he DID score enough points on that test for him to have the mental capasity to know that YOU DO NOT HARM A CHILD!! NEVER! FOR NO REASON!! He may not have the brains to cook a four course meal but he has the brains to know not to hurt a child and not to hide a dead child's body either. i don't feel one bit of sympathy for him. To me, he is just as guilty as the others and should face the death penalty like the rest! His face sickens me! God knows what happened and who had the brain capasity to know that what thet were doing was WRONG and he always judges accordingly! NO ONE FOOLS GOD! Any person on this planet who would harm a child is MENTAL!! so i guess that gives every predatory the window they need to get off....act dumb on a test and all is well!

He knew what he was doing. If he is smart enough to play those video games which I who am a college educated woman can't even figure out how to make those characters walk around, then he is smart enough to know better!!!

Perhaps and perhaps not. It does not matter if you are college educated or understand video game or not. Having a mental illness or a mental handicap is a major depressive disorder. Unless you do the full research on this handicap you don’t and won’t have a real understanding. People with mental handicaps such as Dale’s often have highly unstable patterns of social relationships. While they can develop intense but stormy attachments as in the case with the Edenfields.

Wow Stacey you can sound so grown up and smart when you try. I am impressed. You make a valid point. I just feel like (my opinion)that god has blessed us all with this innate sense of right and wrong.....something in the pit of that man's gut had to be telling him that what the Edenfield's did to that little boy was wrong. Who know's- only god and Dale know where his state of mind was that day.

Thanks for the enlightenment.

It blows my mind that the legal system is so stupid. I spent the last 46 years of my life working in the computer field. I bet you that I can take an intelligence test and fail it too. It is pretty easy to fail one of these test.

How about checking on this guy Dale previous activity. Did he ever had a checking account. Was he able to keep it up to date. Did he drive. How many tickets did he collect. What about his job history. Talk to people that knew him for the past 10 years.

The fact that Christopher's body was not discovered till a week later, made it a lot harder for the investigation. Had Dale notified the authorities when Christopher's body was still in the trailer, the prosecution would had been a lot easier.

This guy Dale made it a lot harder to prosecute this case. A five year stint on a mental institution is a slap on the wrist in my humble opinion. I would put this sucker in the general population for 20 years and wish for the best. Hopefully he would be killed before he is released.

I know that God will eventually forgive him, I will always hold a grudge.

May God continue to Bless the ENTIRE family of Christopher Michael Barrios Jr.

I can AGREE with some of this, however, Dale I don't hold so much of a grudge for as I do the edenfields. Dale has the mental capacity of a adolescent he does however know right from wrong in my opinion. I think it would be cruel punishment to put Dale in the general population, however, puting each and every edenfield would be sufficient. I almost believe the edenfields will be protected and not put in the general population just like Jeffrey Dalmer, but Jeffrey was murdered and I believe very soon the edenfields will all meet there fate.
