Out-of-state trash

Unless they come with a ready-made issue - as Sen. Jim Webb did with the war in Iraq - freshmen legislators usually cast about for something to leave their mark on.

A legislation to limit the income on landfill owners. More free market intrusion by the government. Where are the conservative values in this? What is the diffrence in trash from virginia and trash from maryland?

Well, he's just following in the footsteps of the greats like Glen Oder and Lionel Spruil. So much nonsense and no one to stop them. Why do we fund this anyway?

Each state should dispose of its own trash. We have enough here in Virginia. An old argument has been: NY'ers say that we help make thier trash, we should takes some of it, I say, IF I go to NY I pay for the visit. Things cost up there, use some of that money to clean up your state. If we keep taking on other states trash, eventually we will run out of landfills, will they be willing to take our trash? I think not.

We should charge much higher fees for out of state haulers. Seems to me its only about 1.35 per ton. It should be arount 10.00 per ton. The state and counties should make more money from the dumping than it does now.
