What a shame. I feel so sorry for this child. I just don't understand how a mother could leave a 7 month old child in scalding water for approx. 15 minutes. A child in scalding hot water would be screaming in pain. I find it hard to believe that she did not hear the child's agonizing screams of torture and pain. This woman is horrible. Please don't ever give this child back to her. She is a very sick person who does not deserve to be a mother.

To all men out there: See, this is why you have to be real careful where you plant your seed. All fertile soil is not good for planting.

Talk about sheer stupidity as well as disregard for the safety of a child....
My prayers go out to the child...

Now that is very sad, a normal person would draw the bath water first - you don't run water while the baby is in the tub. If he wasn't burned then he could have easily drowned, because she left him unattended for 15 mins. Good grief what was she thinking? I agree with the earlier post, she should never have custody of this child EVER again.

there are no words to explain the feeling in the pit of my stomach at this moment... lets all hope she doesn't get this child back... when my daughter was about 9-12 months old, we were having dinner at my parents house... she sat in the high chair and made a big mess, so my dad- trying to be nice- decided he would give her a bath. he went in and ran the water, came and got the baby, but as soon as one of her feet hit the water she started screaming... he immediately removed her and called me in the room. I touched the water and told him it was way too hot (he said his hands are calloused really bad because of the work he does so when he felt it, it really didn't feel too hot.) well needless to say I fixed the water, told him to test it with his elbow, and bought him one of those "hot water testers" they sell in the infant departments...
my point is if that poor baby had burns sufficient enough to have her "skin peel off" there is no way that "mother" did not hear the baby's screams... what a waste of oxygen- sadly she is one of many I am sure...
all thoughts are with the baby- who through no fault of his own was born to a scumbag...

Ugh. This lady can make excuses all day long (water never got above lukewarm, etc.), but she is one sick person. Even if the water wasn't scadling hot like it was, why in the world would you leave a baby in there for 15 minutes?!? There is no excusing this act of cruelty.

While she is in jail, I hope somebody accidently turns the hot water on her while she is in the shower for 15 minutes. Let her see how it feels. She should be a candidate for sterilization, also. Why chance her trying to scald another baby?

I have heard my grandmother say that the Lord makes no mistakes when he gives a child to a person, and I know this is true. Never-the less, and for whatever reason God gave this child to this woman of cruelty, and why this child was born, only to be burned so horribly, is beyond my understanding. I will keep praying and asking the Lord to help me to understand why this child had to suffer this way. I am so saddened for this little boy. I hope that in his life time he experiences true love from a loving family. God loves you Jeremiah.

What! You have got to be kidding me! This dumb idiot left a 7 month old child in scalding water for 15 minutes? And like the other person wrote, leaving a child in the bath for any amount of time is stupid, let alone in scalding hot water. Oh no, this chick was up to something incredibly wicked. I think she has the "Susan Smith" syndrome, and we all know what she did to her little boys. This "thing" needs a good swift kick in the a__! and a real long jail sentence.

You know what? I have looked at this womans picture over and over again for any sign of remorse. I see none. I see a cold, callous individual. I look in her eyes and see nothing, emptyness. This child is in serious danger with this person. If the father of this child is in his life, and if he loves the little boy, I urge you to protect your child from this woman. She does not have a heart capable of love. That blank expression on her face says it all.

O.K. enough is enough. I am so sick of hearing about how these so called "adults" are mistreating and abusing helpless childeren. I think the time has come for America to include mandatory parenting classes in all schools, starting with freshman high school. These courses should include a psycho analysis of a persons understanding of child care. If a person says that he/she would not test water before putting a child in it...well..Hello? make mandatory therapy an order, or else face being put in an institution forcibly for therapy. We have got to do something. Helpless children are dying every day at the hands of people like this woman.

No..uhh uhh. I have searched my heart because I wanted to believe that this was an accident. But, no. 15 minutes? I agree with Dallas J.... Something evil took place here.

Is it just me or can anyone else see what's really going on here? It's just another case of the system failing a child. The article said that she was told not to go anywhere near her child. Come on now! The first chance she gets that's exactly what she's going to do! That poor child may not make it the next time.
