No the public does not have a right to know what is in the report. Grand jury proceedings are to be kept private.

You are an idiot. Grand Jury proceedings are to be kept secret. Not a report completed by the Grand Jury. That is why the law permits the criticized the opportunity to respond. This is Florida.

Get OFF John Tanners back !!! Quick playing political games that you have saive for election time! You & the rest of the "liberal' press are a pain! The Grand Jury rendered their verdict, so let the past be the past and move forward! There are plenty of other NEWS to cover & you would NOT be so Hot after Mr. Tanner if it where NOT election time!
By the way....why every time you run a news article on Obama & McCain... you and the othert local media always list Obama first? Even if you go by the alphabet 'M' comes before 'O'!!!
Leave John Tanner alone...he is the best S/A & needs to stay in office!!!{Now lets see if you print this?}

Bob, you are wrong! The public has every right to know what is in the presentment completed by the Grand Jury! If there was nothing in it incriminating Tanner, why is he fighting so hard (and spending so much of our money) to keep it sealed? Something is not right and it has NOTHING to do with it being election time. This has been going for a long time!!

I would urge everyone in Tanner's district to vote for his opponent, RJ Larizza. Mr. Larizza is a good, honest man that will protect his district if elected.

This reporter actually called the office of Harry Shorstein to let him know this hit piece was coming out today. Nice professionalism.

Think Harry Shorstein is political? Ask Angela Corey.

Judge Hammond sealed the indictment finding it was illegal, not Tanner. The money wasted has been by Harry Shorstein who has spent the last year appealing Juge Hammond's decision.

Mr. Larizza is woefully unqualified.

One death penalty case in his entire career and he failed?

He has lost his last three trials badly and his law practice is bleeding people like a fast food restaurant.

His credentials are so laughable that Harry Shorstein's son has actually endrosed Tanner.

...Half a million taxpayer bucks squandered, just so this creep can hide from public scrutiny...
...Power corrupts--the heart and mind and soul. And John Tanner's face has revealed much about the man, as it darkens and withers more-and-more with each changing year. Something satanic in that narrowing, indrawn face, like the portrait of Dorian Grey, dissolving into dissolute seams of degeneracy and debauchery and who knows what all else that might be called evil...
...But, of course, John Tanner is a Public Official--therefore he is subject to open, public questioning in all his words and deeds. Right?
...Or is there a special realm of UnTouchables Enthroned for such as he?
...Throw the bum out. He's way overdue for the boneyard of BigShot Phonies...

I wonder how many more investigators and prosecutors half a million dollars could employ.
The 5th Distict Court of Appeals has the heading State of Florida vs John Tanner individually and as state attorney etc. Is he using any of his own money to keep the presentment sealed or pay for his attorney?

What indictment you fool. Its a presentment. A grand jury report of its findings. The judge sealed the presentment only because he and Tanner are friends, neighbors, and buds. Get it. Let's not forget that Hammond's decisions have been overturned by the 5th DCA twice regarding his rulings regarding Tanner's case. Impartial Judge My A**. The whole circuit is in danger with Tanner at the wheel. It would not surprise me that the OS contacted Shorstein regarding this article. Maybe they wanted to left him know that they have the guts that no other paper has. No matter what lies Tanner tells to the public to gain votes, that Presentment will be made public. This allegation of bias on the part of Shorstein, by Tanner, was not entertained and rejected by the attorney general, Florida Supreme Court and by the governor himself when Tanner asked for a new prosecutor. Tanner has provided nothing other than false affidavits from his own staff (through duress) to support an unrealistic allegation of bias. What make him believe the 5th DCA would see things otherwise? That presentment is coming, get ready liar Tanner.

Judge Hammond determined that the PRESENTMENT was illegal.

Sorry to confuse you genius.

By the way, why is Shorstein's son endorsing Tanner?

A grand jury can be convinced to indict a ham sandwich, but not Tanner. Why?

Try removing the tin foil from your head. Larizza is an unqaulified nobody who is unqualified for this job. When Tanner wins, you can crawl back into your parent's basement and continue playing War of Warcraft while you wait to vote for Obama ... loser.

By the way, accusing a respected circuit court judge of colluding with Tanner is both stupid and uninfomed.

Only a jackass would make such an allegation against a judge who has deicated his entire career to public service.

You are not smart enough to be ashamed of yourself, but you should be.

No problem with scrutinizing any public offical, but I have a problem with impugning a judge. If Judge Hammond did conclude that the presentment was illegal, then I have great pause over what HArry Shorstein was doing.
Also, if his son is endorsing Tanner, then the Larizza guy must have a bunch of problems.
I have heard NOTHING good about Larizza.

Heck, Lawson Lamar could hire 20 prosecutors for a half mil. He'd just have to write them non-redeemable, non-retroactive IOU's for half their salary. He's already doing this now when they get promoted or get raises, why not start them out like that too. Hey, they say you should feel privileged to have a job that pays 40 grand and works you 60+ hours a week, they could easily change that to 20 grand for newbies. That way they get used to those worthless IOU's from the beginning. Of course he and his cronies are sitting on the wonderful DROP system, making 2-3 times their rightful salary. I guess it is true we deserve the government we elect. It's too bad Lawson doesn't have a real challenger, but what skilled, successful attorney would invest in a campaign to inherit that mess.

...The presentment is/was illegal?
...Precisely how can a Grand Jury's concluding report be illegal? It's a statement of collective findings (beliefs) fer Pete's sake. What law did this one break to render it illegal? Were the jurors charged for their illegal act? Tried and convicted, or acquited?
...True--in most circumstances, a Grand Jury can be led by the nose and it will indict a ham sandwich (as the saying goes), if the Prosecutor is sufficiently cunning and ruthless. Harry Shorstein failed to prove his case to this Grand Jury, so John Tanner was not indicted...
...But apparently the jurors had something pertinent to say about the subject of their deliberations. Dunno why Judge Hammond doesn't want US to hear it...Can't imagine why State Attorney Tanner has spent half-a-million taxpayer bucks to keep it from US...
...Like Judge Hammond, hasn't he dedicated his entire career to Public Service? So, shouldn't both of them zealously serve The Public in this instance--and release the Grand Jury's final report?
...Sniff-sniff...What is that foul odor permeating the 7th Circuit's judicial air?:-(:-)

Tanner went on a goverment talk radio show recently and said that he cant wait for the presentment to come out. Then why has he hired a high dollar lawyer to file endless motions to keep the presentment sealed, come on you cant have both Tanner.

...And that BigTime lawyer happens to be (Tah-Dah!): Jon Kaney, of the Imperial Kingdom of Halifax Kaneys...
...The very same Jon Kaney who has been employed by the Orlando Sentinel to fight for First Amendment Rights when its Freedom of Speech comes under attack...
...And now he has been paid more than half-a-million of the Public's bucks to ensure that the Grand Jury doesn't speak freely about snake-eyed State Attorney John Tanner...
...Dontcha just love our morally upright (elitistly uptight) Pillars of the Community?:-)

...If you have specific facts to prove your statement--please pass them along. Most of us don't know Larizza from a potted plant...
...On the other hand--most voters don't seem to know very much about the real John Tanner either. Nor, apparently, do they care...
