The way people drive down this Road (Turner) its not surprising to me at all. I travel this road daily and they drive way too fast. Not saying that is what happened here but its tragic and people need to slow down.

This is really bad. It would be better to walk when it is daylight outside but if you have to walk in the dark you should always make sure you have on high visibility clothing.

If you've never been on this road you wouldn't realize how the edge of the road is uneven. I live on this road and have walked on it frequently. All one has to do is simply step off the edge of the road and stumble. Remember it was 5:30 in the morning and it was still dark. It's is easy to stumble in the dark especially on uneven ground. That's how someone falls in front of a car.

My mom was driving to work this morning at 5am, and she passed this woman. My mom said this woman was walking in the middle of the road wearing a fuscha looking hoodie and black sweat pants. My mom said it was pitch black, so she doesn't know why she was walking.

We live on Turner Road, and my mom said she had to swerve into the other lane to not hit her right at the sharp curve on Turner.

My mom said she also has seen her weeks ago on her way to work where she would be walking on foggy mornings along Hollygrove Road, carrying nothing but a very small kids light.

If she fell in front of the car, would she have been ran over? That's the only reason I don't think it's plausible.

Also, someone working the crime scene mentioned her shoes were still located in the middle of the road with the soles of the shoes still flat on the ground. Another reason I don't think she fell.

WFMY News 2 reports that
"Investigators say Michael Fortner was driving his 1981 Chevy car when he hit 58-year-old Alice Hopkins walking in the opposite direction. The Highway Patrol says the woman was walking on the road."

So if he was heading north up Turner Rd, then she was walking south. Obliviously facing him. So she had to obviously see this. Someone commented about their mother almost hit this woman when she was in the center of the street. So I assume that the woman either remained in the center of the road, or moved over to the shoulder. But from my last post, a crime scene source mentioned her shoes were still in the center of the street. No disrespect to the families affected by this, but why is someone walking in the streets this early in the morning. If I believe Turner road doesn't have many street lights, it just seems like such a dangerous situation that could have been avoided.
