HI im a careful driver in these cleveland streets, these people that you and me see everyday with there phone in their ear need to invest in a blootooth for their phone,im not saying that's the reason why the eight year old child got hit, people need to take it slow and be very careful for our kids and adults safety.

Wow, this is just a couple of streets down from my home in Euclid. I have two children, and hearing about this just breaks my heart. My worst nightmare is for one of my kids to die. I can't imagine how this little girl's family must feel. It's hard enough to lose a child any time, but with Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up, that makes it especially bad.

As a pedestrian (I don't drive), unfortunately, this doesn't surprise me, I've nearly gotten hit by reckless drivers several times crossing streets downtown (on red lights, with a walk signal), on my way to and from work. Too many drivers act like pedestrians have no right to cross the street (and I did read on the Channel 5 website that the girl was crossing the street on a red light).

My condolences to this little girl's family.

My prayers go out to the family of this little girl. It always tragic to lose alittle one. I drive that area often and I am very nervous because people are always crossing that street when there is heavy traffic and they are always trying to beat the cars. Please take your time and wait until it is safe to cross.

Surely a tragedy, more will be revealed I'm sure. The fact the driver was not held or cited is somewhat telling. Don't want to be mean, so I'll stop here.

I just have to wonder why an 8 year old was out by herself? Everyone is saying drivers need to be more careful but what about Mothers? They need to be more responsible for their kids. I see that problem more then I see reckless drivers. An 8 year old is not mature enough to be out alone. Especially on a busy street!!!!

I agree with you. Careful, though, you will be called a racist.

So many times children, teens, and adults cross the street at this particular place on LakeShore. The object ? to get to the store on the other side. Or as with teens to walk in the middle lane to control the traffic and dare you ! They stand there laughing. The elderly with a cane...carrying food from restraunt, step right out and stand there. Young mothers, a toddler hanging on to each hand standing in the middle of the center lane. On the week-end I try not to drive in this particular strip of LakeShore. Your heart is in your throat. My thoughts will always be of this small child ..Heavy in my heart if I do go that way.

It seems the little girl ran out against the red light, so the person that did this DID pay. Unfortunately, it was with her little life. Feel better now?

There are conflicting reports on the driver and who was at fault. It's a shame a little kid died, but as yet no one has been charged. The jaywalking in that area is epidemic, and the Euclid PD seems afraid to confront anyone on it. No reports of a parent or guardian with the child. Let's let the family take care of its loss before we jump to conclusions without the full story.

I live in an apartment complex in that area on Lakeshore. I see so many kids out by themselves that are my sons age! Too young to be out by themselves. We all need to raise our children better. When i was a kid,we had to be in the house when the street lights came on.I have a 7yr old.I always keep a watch on him.Just yesterday I had to discipline him for wanting to cross in the middle of the street. What a tragedy but we can't question GOD.
