I hope there is an investigation into this. I think the absentee ballot voting needs to go back to the way it was - only available to the ill/elderly or those who will be unavailable on election day. Mailing out applications for absentee ballots makes it too easy for fraudulant votes to be registered.

No chance for a redo folks, this is a LEGAL process which OBAMA also used to his advantage, and the fact that there is a 5 day period in which you can register and vote on the same day!! No ACORN here, just Ohioans who want Casinos!!!

So "organizers/supporters " of a State Issue can pick a local jurisdiction and send only those voters absentee ballots? Hey Ms. Brunner! If they do it for one, they should have to send them out to everyone! It shouldn't be more convenient for one locale to vote than another. Why not just spend $100 million in advertizing in a large city and send only those voters absentee ballots? It's Not Right!

It's called running a campaign and targeting your voters. Republicans and Democrats do it every year. They focus on the people they think will vote for them and try to turn them out to vote by absentee or at the polls. It is fair and its done all the time.

It seems to me there was some voter fraud in Florida when George W Dufus won the presidential election and nobody seemed to care.

Your crazy if you think only Dems take advantage of absentee voting. Republicans do as well.

This helps explain why fewer people in Franklin County supported this issue. I bet if our counties were mailed these absentee ballots then it would have passed here just like it did statewide. Either way...it passed and the majority of people are excited about this casino.

You are closer to the truth than you probably realize. Mailing the ballots actually leaves less exposure to fraud, I would say. I know that in one southern Ohio county, absentee balloting has historically been rife with fraud. My uncle volunteered to hand-deliver ballots to shut-ins, etc. After several stops, on person told him to wait. He opened the ballot, signed it and gave it back to my uncle to mail. That's when my uncle noticed the votes had already been filled in. He checked the other ballots he had and sure enough, they were already completed. He called the party committeeman and was told not to worry about it, that they just need the people's signatures and people are comfortable with the party reps filling out the ballots for them. My uncle quit right there.

And lest you think it's just one party, this same county, about 20 years ago, had a similar issue with the other party doing the same thing. In that case, 2 or 3 party committeewomen were found out by state authorities and they ended up with fines and jail time. I have no desire to vote absentee as a result.

If anyone thinks that casinos are going to be so great for Ohio, than one only needs to take a trip to NJ and see how its turned out for them and what it has done to Atlantic City. If you still think its so great than I would suggest getting some help from a mental health expert.

As for the ballots it does not take much effort & common sense to see that there is something wrong when the percentage of voters who took the time to vote in person is way off percentage wise from the absentee ballot voters.

Voting should require the following.

1) Be done in person, at a real poll station.
2) Use a state issued ID or drivers license with a scanner to read the cards magnetic strip to both validate you as a legal resident and prevent fraudulent votes.
